Show Prizes Offered Senator Capper will award cash prizes totaling $1,000 to boys enrolled en-rolled in all-day vocational agriculture agri-culture classes in the United States and Hawaii, who win first, second, third and fourth places in a national na-tional public speaking contest to be held at the American Royal Livestock Show at Kansas City, Missouri, in Novmber. This announcement was made today by W. A. Ross, Executive Secretary of the Future Farmers, of America, the national organization organiza-tion of boys enrolled in vocational agricultural classes. This contest, the second annual event of its kind, is open only to boys who are members of local chapters of the P'uture Farmers of America. The ..country has been divided into four regions the North Atlantic, At-lantic, the Central, the Southern, and the Western. The winners in each of these four regions will be eligible for participation in the National Contest at Kansas City in November. Contestants will be scored on content and composition of manuscript, manus-cript, stage presence, power of expression, ex-pression, and other factors. Subjects Sub-jects are limited to those of practical prac-tical interest to the farmer and rural communities. Prizes of $400, $300, $200, and $100, respectively, will be awarded to those finishing first, second, third, and fourth in the contest at Kansas City Bv Senator Arthur Capper. Utah received recognition last year when Robert Jones of the Weber Chapter of Future Farmers Farm-ers earned his way to the finals at Kansas City and - won third place In the national contest. The district contests in Utah this year will be held on or before April 4. The state contest will be held at Salt Lake 'on April 11. The winner of Utah will enter the finals for the western states at Bcise, Idaho, May 19. |
