Show Clarence Anderson Goes To Store Convention Clarence Anderson, manager oi the J. C. Penney Co., store in this city is leaving to-day to attend the annual Spring convention of thai orgaization to be held at Denver, Colorado. Owing to the new conditions in the department store field whicn have been Drought about by drastic dras-tic reductions in commodity prices, pri-ces, the convention, which is usually us-ually held in April, has been moved aheadto give all J. C. Penney Co., get full advantages of tne new merchandising and price policies of store managers an opportunity to the company. Price reductions running as high as forty percent on many staple lines of merchandise handled by the organization, nave already been announced and further announcements an-nouncements regarding new prici and quality standards may be expected ex-pected accoring to Mr. Anderson. Eight general convention points, have been selected for the Spring meetings, covering ail parts of the country, the Eastern tour being under the direction cf Mr. A. W. Hughes, assistant to Earl C. Sams, president of the Penney organization, or-ganization, and tne Western tour under the direction of George Mitchell of the t-ersonnel Division Divis-ion of the New York Office. J. C. Penney, founder of the j. C. Penney Co., will make the trip m the Western schedule, and Lew V. Day, vice president and dirc-tor dirc-tor of personnel will make the Eastern trip. A notable feature of the conventions conven-tions will be the elimination of the visual buying sessions and the substitution sub-stitution of additional programs devoted to selling methods and service standards. Nearly fifteen hundred managers will attend the convention sessions ses-sions which wilt cover more than GO percent or the retail trade area cf the United Stales. |
