Show i 1 "I S MORONI I I By Special Correspondence Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Marie Jensen were held Tuesday after noon in the East Ward chapel. Soren C. Christensen and Bishop Ephraim Nelson offered prayers. The speakers were Orlando Bradley, Brad-ley, Jabes Faux, and Bishop Elmc Irons. Mrs. Elmo Irons and Mrs. P. J. Draper sang "My Father Knows." The choir sang "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "Resting Now From Care and Sorrow." The grave was dedicated by Bishop Elmo Irons. Mrs. Jensen was born in Denmark, September 14, 1862. She was the mother of nine children and has been a widow for twenty-eight years. She passed away April 6, at Salt Lake City. The following children survive: Mrs. C. H. Jackson, Moroni; Frank P., Junius C. and Lyman A. Jensen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. George Eatchel, Murray; Mur-ray; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Sorosis Club met at their club rooms Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Cleon Anderson gave a talk on the beautifying of our school grounds and kindergarten work for the summer. Mrs. Brown talked on the federation of clubs. The Sorosis club has joined the State and National Federation. Mrs. Lloyd Blackham and Mrs. Em-merson Em-merson Blackham were hostesses. Refreshments were served to the following fol-lowing members: Mrs. E. W. Stucki, Mrs. E. D. Anderson, Mrs. Wm. Olsen, Mrs. Cleon Anderson, Mrs. Joseph Prestwich, Mrs. Morgan Lamb. Mrs. Mert Draper, Mrs. Lewis Blackham, Mrs. Ellis Draper, Mrs. Marvin Anderson, An-derson, Mrs. Blaine Draper, Mrs. Ernest Blackham, Mrs. James Larsen. Mrs. Ray Anderson, and Mrs. Leo Morley. Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Syme and Mr. and Mrs. Alden Syme of Garfield were weekend visitors in Moroni. The Parent-Teachers Association meeting was held in the East ward chapel Monday evening. Vice-President James Prestwich presided. pre-sided. Comunity singing "How Do You Do Friends" was conducted by Miss Ar-dell Ar-dell Hogan with Miss Vivian Anderson as accompanist. Bishop Elmo Irons ofered the opening open-ing prayer. The Lincoln School piano class was presented in recital under the direction direc-tion of Miss Sarah Kellett as Mis? Primary Supervisor Mrs. Marjorie Brom gave a short talk on Kindergarten Kindergar-ten work. . ... Professor Hogensen of the Agriculture Agricul-ture College talked on Farm Bureau work and Agriculture. Superintendent A. E. Jones talked on the new courses to be given in the high schools this year.. He said an extra teacher has been provided for the Lincoln School this year. He also al-so presented plans for the beautifi-cation beautifi-cation of te Lincoln School and High School grounds. Principal E. W. Stucki of the High School told what had been done on the High School grounds and what might be done. The closing prayer was offered by Golden Oldroyd. Mrs E L. Clawson of San Francisco Francis-co California, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs. Wm. Prestwich. Mrs O L Pherson of Provo and Mr. and Mrs'. Star Randall of Salt Lake City were guests of their parents, Mr and Mrs. N. K. Young, Sunday Mr and Mrs. M. W. Bnenholt, Mr and Mrs. Revell Brlenholt and Mr and Mrs. Frank Gammon of Venice Utah were also guests of Mr. and Mrs. N K. Young. |
