Show Welfare Of Workers The growing tendency of big Industrial In-dustrial concerns to safegu'irtl the health of their workers is point- d out in a recent bulletin issued by t'ae United Unit-ed States Department of Labor, which particulrly stresses the improvements which have been made in providing medical attention and nurses. In the case of 375 plants covered by the bulletin it was found that in 1927 all except two werp provided with regular re-gular dispensary or hospitel equipment 31) employed doctors ar.d 3:i2 employed j nurses. In 1916 .the same plants were' v.-ishout any of these facilities, except 11C out or the 375 had some sort ol ; first aid equipment. This is only one phase of the movement move-ment in industry for the v;l!rt of the workers. Improved sanitary conditio? safety devices, and facilii.es for recreation recre-ation and e;ite.-taining are among the means emloed by forward looking employers for the hea'th a' d happiness of their employees. The beneficial results obtained in these respects are not due to the efforts ef-forts of professional reformers and uplifts. They are due to the sound judgment of practical business men who realize that the workers are the mast important factor in making a , business successsful. Anything which 1 contributes to their welfare is reflected in increased loyalty and efficiency. ! |
