Show Planning and Planting Time One more verdant spring has come to cheer us as well as bring us many new and varied problems, in contrast to the season that has Just passed. Planting time is upon us with all its intricate problems. Planning should always al-ways preceed planting. Many a dollar would be saved if this practice were strictly followed. Planting is probably the smaller ol the problems connected with vegetable gardening or any of the farm field crops. To often we see good crops both in garden and infield sorely neglected for want of adequate cultivation and weeding. Whenever one plants a seed, or shrub, or tree he or she should solemnly sole-mnly covenant to properly husband that plant and see to it that is attains its maximum growth. Our boys and girls should be taught how to cai;e for these gardens and fields In no other way will greater soul growth grow-th come. To help them do this properly proper-ly they may have for the more asking numerous government and state bulletins bul-letins and circulars. These may oe had at the county extension office, or by writing directly to the College at Logan, or to the United States Department Depart-ment of Agriculture at -Washington D. C In all your planting be sure to plan first, not only to insure proper planting but to forcast the necessary labor requirements re-quirements to properly take care of and harvest the resulting crops. Weeds are our worst enemies. Down wilh the weeds, and cultivate wherever possible after every irrigation. |
