Show Aged Horticulturist Is Growing Model Plums O. W. Moore of Spring Valley, Minn., ninety-six years old, may be- well along In years but he Is up-to-the-minute as a horticulturist. In a letter to R. S. Mackintosh, secretary of the Minnesota Minne-sota State Horticultural society and a member of the extension division, department de-partment of agriculture. University of Minnesota, he reports that he has an orchard of 50 young plum trees of the latest "models" the newest and best varieties of plums bred by the fruit-breeding fruit-breeding station of the university department de-partment of agriculture, including the Elliott, the Stella, the Winona, the Mendota, the Mound, the Tonka, the lied Wing and the Underwood, all of which are well-known varieties. |
