Washington Gross agricultural income in-come showed a decrease of about 6 per cent for the crop year which ended I.June 30, aa compared with the pre-j pre-j oeding year, the department of agricul-i agricul-i ture announced, estimating the gross ! Income at $12,080,000,000, compared i with $12,670,000,000. The decline was attributed chiefly to the drop in cot-ton cot-ton prices. Smaller income came from feed grains, apples and potatoes also, but it was partially offset by somewhat some-what higher returns from livestock and livestock products. In computing the gross income, cash ales were placed at $9,549,000,000 and the value of food and fuel consumed on farms at $2,531,000,000. Net income, in-come, after deducting expenses, was estimated by the department at $2,-400,000,000, $2,-400,000,000, a decrease of 20 per cent from the preceding year. Expenses of production decreased only 2 per cent, while the gross income decreased about 5 per cent. The cash income from sales was estimated as follows: Dairy and poultry groducts, $3,754,-000,000; $3,754,-000,000; meat animals, $2,S92,000,000; fruits and vegetables,. $1,511,000,000; grains, $1,456,000,000, and cottonseed, $1,291,000,000. |
