Show UNDERWOOD PUIS HiSJiAT IN 1G ALABAMA SENATOR WILLING TC BECOME CANDIDATE FOR THE PRESIDENCY Expresses Hope That Next Demo, cratic Convention Will Pledge Party to Participation in World Affairs Montgomery, Ala. Senator Oscar W. Underwood of Alabama, in addressing ad-dressing a joint session of the Alabama Ala-bama legislature here T;esday declared de-clared that if the state delegation at the next Democratic national convention conven-tion named him as a candidate for the nomination for president, he would do all in his power to leail Democracy back into the White House. The senior senator of Alabama received re-ceived and ovation when he entered the house which followed a parade given in his honor in the downtown section by a delegation from Mobile find southern Alabama. The senator was introduced by Governor W. W. Brandon, who declared he was commissioned com-missioned to say that Alabama demanded de-manded that he "throw his hAt in the ring and make a fight to place Democracy back in control of national nation-al affairs." He presented Mr. Underwood Un-derwood as "the next president of the United States." |
