Auto mobiles can be driven to th" canyon under present road conditions but not sat isfaclori ly. W'y need a better load. It can be made with only a very little effort. The Cit am! well to do citizens would surely provide the money for materials to be used m im provements in the shape of culverts and wo wager thai there isn 'I a man who wouldn 't spend one or two days of dona tion labor on the road for one of tjie most pleasant outing places in all the state. If such a movement was started we feel sure that the ladies would see to it that plenty of good things to eat would be provided for the men who work. Did you ever stop to think how people go wild about Pro vo canyon, Cottonwood canyon can-yon and City Creek canyon.' And then did you ever coin-pare coin-pare them with the beautiful canyons east of Mt. Pleasant? The writer of this little note has been in the above mentioned mention-ed canyons several times, and aside from the splendid roads up the canyons near Salt Lake ' we find very little interest. I! is difficult to ( ui-ii around. And we, who have been raised out in the open, feel somewhat crumped up in these narrow places. l;p in Pleasant Creek Cnn-ivon Cnn-ivon you can find plenty of iroom, plenty of shade, beauti- Jul trees, rushing streams,! thirds, wild animal, etc. Na-j hire smiles in its beauty, ex-j celling hundreds of places where people go for outing trips aihl picnic p u lics. Pleasant Pleas-ant Creek beckons the pleasure seeker with its natural beauty spots. Only a half hour's motor mo-tor ride; if the load was made smooth. It would bring new life to Ihe tired, worn out fanner at the end of Ihe week, to leave the field and go to the mountain moun-tain for a couple of hours or camp over night. .lust think. , right out of the hot burning fields into the cool canyon, within a half hours time. Forget For-get the hard labor of the day. Take your camp outfit with you and stay over night, if you wish, or come back home in the evening after a short recreation. recrea-tion. It would be well for some of the enterprising citizens to take the initiative and start this improvement and make a. real outing place near our city. |
