Show Jardine Joins New Cabinet Washington. William M. Jardine of Kansas is now secretary of agriculture, agri-culture, succeeding Howard M. Gore, who retired to take up his duties as governor of West Virginia. The new secretary took the oath at the agriculture agri-culture department before members of the Kansas delegation in congress, and bureau chiefs of the department. He accepted in silence the congratulations congratu-lations of those who crowded about to shake his hand. Then he held an informal reception in the secretary's office. The oath was administered after the new secretary had conferred confer-red at length with President Coolidge. Cool-idge. It was indicated that a new assistant secretary also would be named soon, and that the name of C. W. Creel, director of agricultural extension of the University of Nevada Ne-vada was mentioned prominently. |
