Show Will Fight Philippine Malaria Manila. A modern hospital designed de-signed primarily for the eradication of malaria in the provinces of Pam-panga Pam-panga and Bataan, island of Luzon, has just been opened at the Pampan-ga Pampan-ga sugar mills central at Del Carmen, Car-men, sixty miles north of Manila. The hospital, which is one of the most completely equipped in the Philippines, Philip-pines, is the gift of John D. and Adolph B. Spreckles of San Francisco, Francis-co, who are largely interested in the Del Carmen sugar central. The institution, insti-tution, in addition to being used for the care of medical and surgical cases cas-es in the two provinces, will be the headquarters for the Rockefeller foundation and the Philippine health service in their campaign for control of malaria. The central court of the building contains a pond, the gift of the Rockefeller foundation, which will be stocked with fish from the United States, to be studied in connection con-nection with experiments on anopheles anophe-les mosquito larvae. |
