In (he interest of the "City Poauiification Campaign." the people of this city are Just negmntng to realise what It means for a community communi-ty lo be selected as one of the three cities of the state to be chosen as a stale demonstration center. Prof Hansen is now drawing plans for the grounds at the public school, the Wasatch Wa-satch Academy. and the local churches. Over one third of the homes of the city are asking for the services of Prof. Hansen, and before .the contracts which have been signed are fulfilled, the entire city will receive re-ceive the services of Utah's foremost ! landscape gardener. A committee of about thirty members, mem-bers, one from each of the aevera. .civic, religious, and literary organizations organi-zations of the city, will assist Prof. Hansen in the actual work of carrying carry-ing out the plans. In addition to this the city council Is to be asked (to employ a permanent city planning committee of five members. In which committee will be lodged the responsibility re-sponsibility of supervising and directing direct-ing all civic improvements. The two otheer cities chosen for Ibis year are American Fork and Wellsville. Mt. Pleasant has decided to leave these rivals the honors of winning second and third places In the campaign of civic Improvement. Prof. Hansen addressed a representative repre-sentative gathering In the North ward chapel Wednesday evening, speaking on the expectations of the committees in charge in co-operating with the city officials, clubs, and all city organizations. |
