Show Finney Explains Colorado Board Washington Acting Secretary Finney Fin-ney of the interior department said that Secretary Work's purpose in appointing ap-pointing "special advisers" to investigate investi-gate and report the facts concerning the Boulder dam and other Colorado river projects never contemplated that they should exercise any power as a commission. "The appointees were approved ap-proved by the eivil service commission as 'special advisers' to the secretary." Mr. Finney said. "Secretary Work wants to know the facts surrounding proposed developments of the Colorado Colo-rado river. All he wants is that the men selected shall give him their impartial im-partial Judgment on the merits of these developments. It was never Intended In-tended that they should ha've any legal power or that their findings should bo treated by the Interior department except ex-cept as advisory information." Each appointee will receive an allowance of J20 a day, except Senator Waterman of Colorado, who will serve without compensation, since he is already on the government's pay roll. Payments will be made out of the J'5,000 fund which congress allowed the interior department to make investigation of new reclamation projects. |
