Show FERDINAND ERgKSFN ANSWERS FINAL HI Judge Ferdinand Ericksen, foi many years prominent in legal business busi-ness and political life of Utah, died Wednesday night at St. Marks, hospital, hos-pital, in Salt Lake City, after an ill-ness ill-ness of several months. He suffered a heart attack about six months ayo and was ordered to a lower altitude-by altitude-by his physician. At that time he went to Dallai, Texas, to visit his sister, Mrs. O. 0. Anderson. When h's condition became be-came worse he returned to Salt Lake; and had been in the hospital since. Judge Ericksen was active in the 1 Pomorat:c party for many years and was a factor in the development of Sanpete county ,in a business and po- litical way. He was the son of Utah pioneers, Lars and Christina Hansen 1 'Ericksen, born in Mt. Pleasant Sep. tember 30, 1863. He received bis early education in-the in-the Sanpete couroty schools and later i attended the Brigham Youn.g acad-I acad-I emy at Provo. For a time he taught, i school in Mt. Pleasant and then attended at-tended the law school at the Univer-( Univer-( filty of Michigan, where he 'graduated j In 1890. He was admitted to the ; bar of Michigan and Utah in the Bime year and returned to Utah to take up his profession. Enters Politics Early. His political life wag long and . varied. He first entered politics in 1890, when he was elected Sanpete county attorney. Later he served as county treasurer and was a candidate for state senator in 1894, but was defeated. de-feated. In 18 97 he was elected mayor of Mt. Pleasant, in which capacity cap-acity he served for several terms. In 1904 be was elected judtge of the Seventh judical district and served ser-ved a four year term. The same year he was a delegate to the national Democratic convention at St. Louis Mo. He was also a candidate for Representative in the House of Representatives Re-presentatives of the United States. After serving as judge he returned return-ed to private practice in Mt. Pleasant In 1912 judge Ericksen moved to Salt Lake and became the law partner part-ner of the late Marks P. Braffet. This firm handled the legal business for the Utah Fuel company. In 19-15 19-15 the partnership was dessolved and Judge Ericksen 'became general counsel coun-sel for the feul company. He is survived by the following children: Clarence E. Ericksen, Hollywood, Hol-lywood, Cal; Mrs. A. W. Proctor, of Stirling Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Obed Nlelson, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. E. W. Lambert, William M., F. Harllan, C. Alleen and, Elroy L. Ericksen all of Salt Lake. The following (brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Anderson, Dallai, Texas; Mrs. Camilla Noland, Mount Pleasant; Mrs. John Pritchett, Huntington; Hunt-ington; Mrs. Lena Sonnson, Provo, Louis, Orem and Amasa Ericksen. Mt. Pleasant. Funeral .services will be held in Mt. Pleasant Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock and interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
