Show JXEW LIBRARY BOARD PLAN'S BIG THINGS FOR LIBRARY At the second called meeting of the new Library Board held Thursday Thurs-day evening at the public library plans were discussed as to ways' and means of making the library pay bigger big-ger dividends upon the money invested. in-vested. The matter of making the large basement room more inviting so that different organizations of the . city may hold their meetings in this room was referred to the committee on grounds aul buildings. Racks j are to be made so that the magazines j now unused in the basement of the library may be accessible to the pub-, lie, and jn the future the magazines! are to be bound at the end of each year, and kept for reference. This one thinij alone will prove of invalu-. able help to those who wish to refer to back articles, and especially to students who U3e the Readers' Guide and Poole's Index in their search for materials for debates, essays, etc. Most of the discussion Thursday j evening centered about the question ! of increasing the number of books' in the library. Every effort is to be made to secure the largest possible ) amount of moujy for the purchasing of new books. Special thanks was' given by the members of the board, and fs herein publicly expresso1!, tc the ladies of the Twentieth Century and Home Culture Clubs for their .enerrous donations to Ihe book fund. U Is the hope of the board that other organizations will follow this splendid splen-did example, and that at least one hundred dollars can ln-j raised in this way. At the next meeting of the board a requisition for new books will be brought in by the book com in itteo ( which Is composed of Mrs. H. C. Jaccb3. chairman, and A.. V. lioand. It i3 the purpose of the committee to select with care all books orjerel and to make every effort to secure the best books, both classical and modern, and the committee will appreciate ap-preciate suggestions from the citl-j zens as to books that they would like: to see In the library.
