Show QUARANTINE PLACED ON ANIMALS FROM CALIFORNIA Due to the contagion disease known as foot and mouth disease in California, every precalion possible pos-sible must be taken to prevent the spread to the livestock in tho state of Utah. The Governor has issued a .proclamation placing an embargo on all livestock, poultry, hides, hoofs, etc. that could possibly spread this disease. The State Board of Agriculture Is asking tho cooperation of all livestock live-stock inspectors and the public generally gen-erally to lend their support In suppressing sup-pressing the importation into Utah of any article that may be a carrier of foot and mouth disease. Among the products shipped Into Utah that may bring this disease are baby chicks and packing. Should any chicks get into this locality as soon as delivered by tho postal authorities to the consignee as the State Board of Agriculture has no authority over tlio postal authorities, these chicks are to be dipped in a 3 per cent solution of cresol compound, packing pack-ing and boxes to be burned. Should tiny chicks come in this locality, the inspectors tire instructed! to take charge of them and treat them a-long a-long Uieso lines. Shippers should be advised to not receive chicks as dipping means death. Should they receive them it will be their loss. Inspcors are requested to iu vestigale anything of a S'Uspicicua nature from California and report to lho oliice of the Stato Board ol Agricuhure at the earliest possible convenience. John Gumlorson, local Inspector, left Mt. Pleasant Wednesday for Mil fordi to inspect and demonstrate on foot and mouth disease. He will also go to Oakland, California to study the disease in that state. |
