Show CHILDREN'S NEWS "Come and hear the latest number of Natureland News," shouted Billie Brownie to the other Brownies and Elves and Fairies and Old Witty Witch and Old Mr. Giant, the members of the Bogey family and Oaf family and the Gnomes. "There Is news of Natureland and some interesting Items of Child World, too," Billie Brownie said, and he began be-gan to read the paper aloud to all the little Fairyland creatures who now 1 gathered together in the big Fairyland Wood. These were the Items Billie Brownie read : A letter was received some little while ago, Just after our last Nature-land Nature-land News went to press, from a little j girl named Lorna. Lorna Is eleven years old and llvas on a farm In South Dakota. She likes to write stories and she likes to read stories. She loves the country. She loves the fall better than anv season of the year. She said that last fall the potato crop and the carrots car-rots were splendid. She likes to wear knickers and she Is in the seventh grade in school. She likes to go to school. She has lots of cousins and friends. At her farm nre several pet pigs. There are Billy Pig, Lady Tig and Toughy Pig. Also she lias a dog named Jigg9. A little girl named Helen and her Bister Jean have gone to California on a trip. They love stories although Jean doesn't read stories to herself as yet. But Helen reads them to her so nicely. Peggy, who lives by the sea, writes letters without a mistake In spelling as she asks how to spell each word. She has a new pen of which she is very proud. Melly told us, after hearing about Peggy, that she could never get a letter all spelt correctly even If she asked how to spell each word. She said she would be sure to get some words wrong, somehow. Peggy had a birthday lately and was given a lovely bead bag in which she now has her handkerchief and some money. She has been to a number of Making Her Ferns Grow. parties lately. Her small brother John walks all about the house and gets into mischief. He likes to try to run away and he reads all his hooks upside down. Lucy has taken to biting her nails. Her nails feel badly about this. "Why," they said, "should they be bitten when they aren't food?" Little Hennie is making her ferns grow by giving them castor oil. Blancliard says, when be Is asked If he loves his mother, "Oh, much !" And as he says "much" he opens wide Ida arms to let everyone know that "much" certainly means a great, great deal. John Wiswell's mother and daddy went away on a boat for a trip lately I and every day John kissed out to the waves and asked them to follow along after the boat so as to be able to carry them to his mother and daddy. Some elephants, some clowns, some trained dogs, monkeys, performers of trapeze acts, a circus band and a number num-ber of other "acts" all went to a Children's home and hospital recently and gave a two-hour performance. It was one of the best mornings had by everyone, and Natureland News is glad to report it. The Lilac tree was host at a party last Friday. Fifteen birds were the guests and the suet refreshments were pronounced to be excellent. Hermit Habit who lives alone because be-cause he lias got into the habit of living liv-ing alone sends word that he doesn't want to see anyone as he bus got iu;o the habit of not wanting to see anyone but that be would like to be sent all the fresii vegetables possible. Tiny can be left outside his cave if his rave can be found. lie has got into il,e habit of eating fresh vegetables lately. Four humming birds wort to visit the Persian Liiac bush yesierdity. Tln-y had a pleasant time. The wild honeysuckle and the pinL lady-slipper of the woods send S.u.iig-time S.u.iig-time greetings to all. Good News lias spread through the air that Dolly has put up some fresh suet in her lilac tn-e fur the lords. The nuthatches and c hii kadres at once went to thank her and show their aji-preciation aji-preciation by having a gnod tncal. The news went throo-jh I'.irdland. from wing to wing, m nn time at all.
