Show BY THE MAYOR A PROCLAMATION In asking observance of Arbor Day, Governor George H. Dern said: "It is the season when life is being renewed. It is the season when we should weigh well our debt to nature na-ture which blesses us so abundantly, and when we should give expression to our appreciation." It is with this beautiful thought in mind that I, Robert II. Hinckley, Mayor of Mt. Pleasant, do designate and proclaim pro-claim Wednesday, April 15th, as Arbor Day, and urge that all citizens observe this day by the planting of trees and shrubs and in the general beautification of their homes and our city. By local custom this day has become clean-up day as well as Arbor Day, and as this is entirely in harmony with new planting, citizens are urged to cease from their respective respec-tive labors and enter whole-heartedly into the spirit and purpose of this day and make Mt. Pleasant as good as its name. ROBERT H. IIIXCKLEY, Mayor. |
