Mr. Sorensen has recently been in a hospital in Salt Lake where ( he received treatment for pneumonia, j He returned to his labors with the j Desert Live Stock Company on Mon-i Mon-i day. ! Funeral services for Raymond D. Sorensen, who died recently at Camp Kearny, California, were held in the I open air Sunday afternoon at. the I residence of his father, Peter Soren-! Soren-! sen. Private Sorensen had only been at the camp for a few weeks when he was taken ill with Spanish Influenza, which later turned to pneumonia, causing his death. He was a member of Bakery Company, four hundred and five. The telegrams and letters received by his father from the com-rads com-rads of his company showed the great respect and high esteem in which they held Private Sorensen. J. M. Johnson, C. A. Larsen, J. W. Blain, J. T. Blain and Bishop Samuel Allred were" the speakers. Invocation was by F. C. Sorensen and the benediction benedic-tion was pronounced by Mayor J. P. Johnson. Music was furnished by the choir. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Interment was made in the Spring City cemetery. Conditions at present indicate that public gatherings will again be permitted per-mitted the first of the week. At this writing the Influenza is only in one family and they are reported to be out of danger. We have had but few cases here most of which have been in a light form. Only one death in Spring City has resulted from the epidemic. This is an excellent showing show-ing as compared with other towns in the state. The good record is due to the people adhering strictly to the quarentine regulations. J. R. Baxter, Jr. has taken advantage ad-vantage of the vacation which he has been compelled to take during the Influenza quarentine, and has greatly improved the inside appearance of the Lyceum Theatre. - The tinting which he has placed on the walls and ceiling of the Theatre is, certainly beautiful. The people of Spring City ' have always appreciated the Lyceum, but W'ill appreciate it more than ever when the quarentine is lifted. The ' finished work has the appearance of 1 an expert rather than that of an ! amateur. 1 Ray Blain is home for a few days ' vacation. Ray has perminent employ- i ment with Mr. Bagnall of Chester. w s s ' |
