Show KING THANKS RED CROSS. British Ruler Appreciates Assistance Offered Sick and Wounded. London. The following letter from King George to President Wilson was made public May 19: "To tlie President of the United States of America : "On tlie eve of the second appeal which the American Red Cross is about to make for funds with which to carry on its work of mercy, I thank you in tue name of my people for the assistance assist-ance already offered the sick and wounded of the allied countries. "My heartfelt wish is that the results re-sults of this new appeal may enable ihe Red Cross of America, side by side with our own organization arid those of the allied countries, successfully to carry out the great humane mission imposed upon us by the gigantic war such as the world has never known. "The unexampled munificence of America's first response provided a noble record in charity effort and 1 feel sure her generous hearted people will again respond to the extent Hint the resources of your great counlry ulone can command. , (Signed) "GEORGE." |
