Show MORONI. Commencement exercises of the High School was held Friday evening May 18. Every part on the program was rendered in first class style. The numbers were: Selection H. S. Orchestra, "Wedding "Wed-ding March," Mendelssohn. Prayer, Orlando Bradley. Opening Address, Merril Faux, Class President. Chorus, Senior girls. Address to Graduates, Prof. James L. Barker, of U. of U. Recommendation of Graduates, Prin. A. H. Anderson. Presentation of Diplomas, Supt. J. W. Anderson. Clarinet and Cornet duet, Miling Nelson and Jensen Christensen, "Summers' Night." A large number of students and patrons were in attendance and all enjoyed themselves at a dance after the program. The graduates are: Merril Faux, Wyroa Dispain, Fenton Draper, Ira Huggins, Ilia Nelson, Mildred Irons, Verno Larson, R. Russel Lund, Edith Nielson and Tesaie Thomas. Miss Margaret Bolton left Tuesday for a visit to her home at Park City, after which she will return to take charge of the girls' club work in North Sanpete this summer. Tuesday evening was a pleasant one for all the girls and mothers who gathered at the Tabernacle for the social given In honor of Miss Van-orma Van-orma Blackham, who leaves Salt Lake City on June 12 for service in the Northern States Mission. A short program and lively games, and useful use-ful articles for the guest was the order of the evening. The Y. L. M. I. A. has been reorganized re-organized with Mrs. Norma Prest-witch Prest-witch president, Misses Gladys Stark and Melba Christensen, councilors, Miss Leora Christensen, secretary, and Miss Mamie Anderson, Journal Agent. Many new Beekeepers have been chosen and all Mutual girls look forward to a profitable summer. Six more boys leave Saturday to answer the call of Uncle Sam. They are Ralph Anderson, Renalds Syme, Leslie Syme, Scott Bruno Jr., John Draper and Odell Sorenson. A large dancing party was given in their honor Wednesday night. 1 Mrs. Cal Cox of Manti is visiting this week with her mother, Mrs. W. W. Crawford. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bardsley have returned from Goshen, where Mr. Bardsley has been teaching in the High School. Wednesday, May 22, was set apart by the city officials as a clean-up day at the cemetery. A large crowd of citizens responded and made a most remarkable change in the appearance of the grounds by removing almost all the brush. A free dance will be given Friday night to all who took part. Great credit is due to the Mayor May-or and the Sexton for boosting such a worthy act,. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Christensen Jr. motored to Salt Lake City Tuesday. |
