Bills of Fairview, who has been with the 6th Balloon Company, Air Service, A. E. F., France since last May, writes 'the following letter: Jan. 23, 1919. Dear Parents: Just a line in answer to your most welcome and interesting letter of the ISth. I was indeed pleased to hear that you were all well and enjoying life, because this leaves me feeling feel-ing great, and for enjoying life I don't know of any place that is as beautiful as where I am at present. I am now on my leave that I spoke about some two months ago, and if there is a place on the globe any more beautiful than this I would like to see it. We are now in the city of Nice. If you take a look at the map you can see where it is located. We were up on the old Chateau of Nice yesterday and from there we could see the snow capped Alps, and then to look down on the city of Nice and see the lemons lem-ons and oranges on the trees, surely furnished something to talk about. On our way to Nice we stopped one day in Paris, and one day in Marseilles. Marseil-les. We will be here for seven days, then we expect to stop at Lyon for a day or so. These cities are surely great, especially Paris and Nice. Of course, Nice is much more beautiful than Paris at present, due to its being in a much warmer part of France. The old palm trees, green grass, Mowers, and green gardens surely look great. How I wish you could all be here to enjoy this place with me. I'll have to ring off for this time, because I want to drop DeMoss and Isola a line or so. and most of my time is taken up in seening the beauties of France, especially in this section. I'll write you a long letter when I get to my company, providing it is not oil the move. Your loving son, GLENN. |
