Show SPRING CITY. The young baby, Velna Larsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Larsen, passed away at their home Saturday February twenty-second. Death was caused from a weak heart and lungs. Funeral services were held at the tabernacle Monday afternoon, after-noon, Joseph Downard, James Blain, James W. Blain and Bishop Allred were the speakers. Interment took place in the Spring City Cemetery. A number of peopie from Spring City, Chester and Wales took advantage advant-age of hearing Ex-PregMent Taft lecture on the League of Nations subject in Salt Lake the later part of the week. All were well pleased with the splendid addresses they heard delivered on this subject while there. We should all stand unanimously unanim-ously on this subject and that should be exactly as has been clearly stated by President Wilson and Ex-President Taft. The last two storms have piled up a sufficent supply of snow in the mountains to assure us a good supply of water for our crops next season, this fact should be the cause of bringing a happy smile to the surface of each farmer's countenance as well as every body else. The L.-D. S. church has inaugurated inaugurat-ed a new meeting for the benefit of instructing officers and teachers to convene at the tabernacle for the first time next Sunday morning at nine o'clock. Lyman Christensen and Arthur Blain returned home this week from service in the U. S. Army. Mr. Christensen was jone of the first young men in Spring City to volunteer volun-teer in the army. The Spring City Red Cross Branch held their annual meeting February 18 for the election of the officers for the coming year. The following committee of five were appointed to select the officers: Mrs. S. L. Bunnell, Mrs. J. T. Blain, Mrs. Samuel Allred, Mrs. Joseph G. Schofield and Mrs. M. Lund. The officers chosen were: Mrs. J. Morgan Johnson, President; Mrs. S. L. Bunnell, Vice President; Mrs. Jos. G. Schofield, Second Vice President; Mrs: Angus Black, Secretary and Treasurer. Sewing Committee: Mrs. John Schofield, Mrs. M. Lund, Miss Grace Blain, Miss Verlettie Dahl, Miss Pearl Thompson, and Miss Vienna Covert. |
