Show Lieut. Ben L Reynolds Dies Of Spanish Influenza Lieutenant Ben E. Reynolds died of Influenza Thursady afternoon, November 7, at the home of his mother, moth-er, Mrs. Martha Reynolds. He was brought to Mount Pleasant Tuesday from his farm at Indianola. Lieutenant Reynolds was born in this city February 23, 1888. He married Miss May Hansen, daughter of Andrew and Stena Hansen of Fair-view. Fair-view. Two children were born unto them, Madge, who is ight years old, and Phillis, who is six years. His wife died on: the 17th of last December. Decem-ber. Lieutenant Reynolds joined the National Guard of Utah when he was 18 years of age and served in military duties for about ten years. He was in Captain Thomas Braby's company during most of his military career. In 1909 he went with Capt. Braby as a member of the Utah Rifle Team to the International meet at Camp Perry, Ohio. Again in 1911 he went to Camp Perry to participate in a National meet in rifle competition. At both contests he won prizes and gained a high score for the Utah team. At that time he was a private. In 1915 he was promoted to First Sergeant of Company D. In 1916 he received the commission! of Second Lieutenant. During the Mexican border trouble Lieutenant Reynolds was rejected at Fort Douglas from border service on account of ill health. Then he was appointed by the Federal Government as an enlisting en-listing officer and he served Inthai capacity during the summer of 1916. Lieutenant Reynolds won honors for himself and this community as a member of the National Guard. He is survived by his two little girls, his mother, who is a widow, and two brothers, George and James Reynolds. Burial took place at the city cemetery ceme-tery this Friday afternoon . at 3 o'clock.
