Murder of Two More Americans Stirs Authorities to Action and Additional Vessels Are Ordered to the Mexican Coast. Washington. American destroyers linve xtin ordered to Vera Cruz and Tampi- to protect Americans there. The navy department acted on the request of the slate department, where it uhs explained that the warships would lake aboard Americans in those two ports In the event that should become be-come iieovssary. It waa said that the vessels would not intervene in Mexican affairs, and that their dispatch was a precautionary precaution-ary measure. Only the cruiser Sacra-jnonlo Sacra-jnonlo is now on the east coast of iUexIco. She was last reported at Tamplco. No reports of any disturbances In eithr Vera Cruz or Tampico have b(Kn received by the state department, hut revolutionary outbreaks have occurred oc-curred ear both ports. The murder of two more Americans l Mexico, reported to the state department, de-partment, accentuated the concern with which officials are watching developments develop-ments beyond the border. There was nothing, however, to indicate to what extent the attitude of the Washington government toward the Sonora revolutionary revolu-tionary movement might be affected by the fact that the incidents occurred in Carranza-eontrolled territory. Requests for additional warship protection pro-tection at points on the east coast of Mexico already had been forwarded to the navy by the state department. While this had no relation to the murders, mur-ders, it was said to indicate the view of officials as to the unsettled conditions condi-tions prevailing in that region, nominally, nom-inally, at least, still hold by Carranza forces. |
