Warning against reprisals, no matter what the provocation, was given the Royal Irish constabulary on Friday by Sir Hamar Greenwood, chief secretary for Ireland, in a speech on the occasion of a distribution of medals. He dwelt upon the provocation provoca-tion which has been given the police, with 130 of their number murdered and 170 wounded, but declared no reprisals could be countenanced by the authorities. He congratulated the men upon ' their general maintenance of discipline. The Evening Telegraph states that a circular signed by General Tudor has been issued to the police from Dublin castle, warning them against participating In reprisals, and declaring declar-ing that on proof of such acts having been committed, disciplinary measures, to be followed by severe punishment, will be adopted.
