Show FAIRVIEW , Nephi Cruser and daughter, Irene were Salt Lake visitors the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Epperson who visited relatives here (lie past week returned to their home at Pro-vo Pro-vo Tues-day. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Madsen left for Stone, Idaho this week. Mr. Mad-sen' Mad-sen' will teach in the public schools the coming winter. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Tucker came down from Idaho last week ,iu their Dodge auto and are visiting relatives. Miss Gladys Graham and Miss Lu-cile Lu-cile Brady went to Provo this week to attend the B. Y. U. Mrs. Leslie Combs and children who have spent the past two months here went to Salt Lake City Sunday to meet her husband from Alberta, Canada. . They will visit relatives here and at Garland, and will also attend the fair and conference at Salt Lake City. Joseph Osborne of Canada was a Fairview visitor last week. The Ladies Literary Club of Fair-view Fair-view met at the home of Mrs. Vcrn Sanderson Sdptemb)Br 22nd where the following program was given: Reading, The Joy of Living, Mrs. H. W. Sanderson, Jr; Current Events, Mrs. S. A. Carter; Reading, Mrs. Vern Sanderson; The subject of Home Economics was also discussed, and dainty refreshments served. A largo number of our people attended the fair at Manti and quite a numoer ot things were sent down to compete with the county. It is reported that Fairview received 32 prizes, twelve of which were given on art needle work, Mrs. S. P. Mel-gaard Mel-gaard receiving four; Mrs. Fred Dan-ielson, Dan-ielson, one; Mrs. Will Clayson, one on tatting; Mrs. J, G. Johnson, one on crocheted bed spread; Mrs. Caroline Car-oline Miner, two; Miss Belva Cox two, one on bead purse and one for macoroni sofa pillow; Miss Leona Nordstrom, two; Fairview Creameries, Creamer-ies, three for butter; Mr. Melgaard of the Empire Creamery Co. receiving first and third prize and the Fairview Creamery Co. receiving Becond; W. Clayson, the baker, received first for his bread and also first for his candy; Eli A. Day, Sr., first for turkey red wheat; A. Ira Cox, first on onions; Orville Cox, first on citrons; James Snow, first on corn; and Clyde Cheney Chen-ey received a prize for his drawings. Glen Bills left Thursday for Salt Lake City where he will attend school this winter. Misses Cleon and Calista Lassen went to Salt Lake last week to attend at-tend the University of Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hall are spending the week at Manti. Miss Flossie Anderson and Miss Annie Anderson went to Provo Wednesday. Wed-nesday. Mrs. E. A. Allred entertained Thursday evening, September 23rd at a very pretty kensdngton in honor of her sister, Mrs. C. R. Fading ot Sunnyside, Utah and Miss Dorcas All-red All-red of Salt Lake City. Those present were the Mrs. C. L. Pritchett, Swen O. Neilson, Fred Olsen, James Peterson, Peter-son, W. J. Christensen, S. A. Carter, Bruce Cox, D. H. Carlston, and the Misses Selma Graham, Helena Chris tensen and Fern Christensen. A very pleasant evening was spent in' social so-cial chat after which dainty refreshments refresh-ments were served. Miss Dorcas Allrejd returned lo Salt Lake City after a vacation of three weeks. Mrs. C. R. Fading leaves for Sunnyside, Sun-nyside, Utah Sunday, after a slay of two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lassen. The Walters Theatre Company gave two splendid performances at the Opera House, ' Friday evening playing The Country Girl and Saturday Satur-day evening Sowing to the j Wind, both evenings to large and appreciative apprecia-tive audiences. Monday at 2 o'clock p. m. runeral services of Sister Nelson who died Saturday at the home of her son, France Nelson, at Oak Creek were held in the L. D. S. Chapel, Bishop H. T. Hansen presiding. The choir sang The Resurrection Day, and Shall We Meet Beyond the. River, after which consoling remarks were made i. Trfnr Anderson and James Peter son of Oak Creek. The Beautiful City was sung by Sister Rhoda Mower and the benediction offered liy Elder El-der A. Terry. Entennent was made in the Fairview cemetery. One son and two daughters survive sister Nelson, Nel-son, her husband having died a few years ago. The Fairview choir is preparing a .splendid concert to be given in the uear future. Mr. Terry is giving special attention to its preparation and it promises to be the best ever ;iven at Fairview. Mrs. Marie Jorgensen of Spring City is spending a few days with her brother, Andrew Peterson. , Miss Grace. Fri tenet t of Ogden is visiting her parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Pritchett. Harold Mower who has speut. the pnM two months at Wendell, Idaho returned today lo continue his work at. the North Sanpete High School. Ralla Pritchett went to Salt Lake to attend the stale fair. Kemmer Stevens left Wednesday for Montpelier, Idaho where he goes to finish liis business course at the college. Several changes are being made with the dwelling houses. Mayor Pritchett has changed his house into a modern and up-lo-date home and Silas Mower is also making some big improvements. The new drug store is now completed com-pleted and ready for occupancy and also the beautiful new home of Chas. Peacock, the druggist. |
