Show j Fairview ', lt - The celebration of Pionfeer day began be-gan on the evening of the 23rd by a moon light serenade of the choir. The next morning the people were awakened at day break by the booming boom-ing of cannons followed by a serenade seren-ade of the various kinds. The following program was carried out in the Eclipse pavilion with A. A. Johnson master of ceremonies: Song by the choir, "Come come ye Saints," Prayer by the Chaplain, LeRoss Christensen; Choir sang, "Utah We Love Thee;" Poetic reading read-ing relating to the Pioneers, Mrs. Ellen Peterson; Song by Utah, "Miss Sophronia Olsen; Oration, H. W. Clark; Trombone solo, Henry Terry; Recitation, Mable Lasson; Music, Harmonica band; Quartette, Roena Day and Co.; Duet, Roy and Marion Nielson; Song by the choir, ''Utah We Praise Thee;" and Benediction by the Chaplain. The afternoon sports consisted of a children's dance, after which various vari-ous games were indulged in for the general public at the Ball Park. One feature of the afternoon sports was a cart race between Rexwood and a Standard Bred mare belonging to John A. Anderson, the latter winning The day's sports were closed by a ball game between the regular team and the Was Isers; the regular team beating the Was Isers one score. On Sunday afternoon about thirty-five thirty-five ladies of the Relief Society and choir members made a visit to the County Infirmary, cheering the inmates in-mates with singing and music. They took picnic and served the same with lemonade. Those who were bedfast were visited and songs sang to each ' bringing good cheer to each and all. Saturday afternoon a number of ladies of the Relief Society gave Mrs. Racheal Brady a surprise. They went to her home and held a meet- ing after which the afternoon was spent in games, singing, etcf Ice cream and cake were served. She is an aged widow and not able to attend at-tend meetings. She enjoed the vis- it and joined in the singing and games. gam-es. Chris Olsen and family of Provo have spent the past week in Fairview. , John L. Anderson and family and Miss Jennie Anderson are here visit- ' in relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. John K. Olsen are ' here visiting this week'. Mrs. Olsen was formerly Miss Jennie Young of tiis place. Mrs. Eli Taylor of Salt Lake Cily is here spending the week enjoying the country air. j |
