Show CHRISTENA SURENSEN DEAD Christena Sorensen was born Aug. 27,1835, .in Ailing, Denmark. In 1852 at the age of 17 she became a member of theL. D. S. church. She married Christian Sorensen Jan. 12, 1858 and they left their native land and came to America in April, 1859. They crossed the plains with a hand cart company, her husband drawing a handcart wnile she carried an infant in-fant in her arms and walked all the way from Omaha to Salt Lake City. At first they stopped at Millcreek, but latter came to Mount Pleasant, in 186Z. They experienced the hardships hard-ships of the Indian Wars and Grass-hgpper Grass-hgpper raids. Sister Sorensen was the mother of 10 children; six of whom survive her. The other four and her husband preceded pre-ceded her to the great beyond. She was true to her religion and lived a christian life. She died in this city March 2, 1913 of pneumonia after an illness of a few days. Funeral services were heid at the South Ward Chapel on Thursday. Bishop Jas. Larsen presiding. The choir furnished scared music and Chas. Pecerson, Peter Matson, Pres. Lud and Bishop Larsen were the speakers. Many beautilul flowers were given bv the friends of the family. |
