The factory is sure to be ready for operation in ample time to handle next year's beet crop. On Wednesday's train from thel north Mr. Baum, the western manager mana-ger for James Stewart and Co. with Mr. Cooper, an expert beet sugar factory fac-tory engineer also with the Stewart people, arrived in Mount Pleasant. Ther gentlemen came to Sannete for the purpose of passing their judgment judg-ment upon the proper site for the factory. They spent Wednesday afternoon af-ternoon with the Sugar Company directors di-rectors accompanied by a number of prominent citizens of Mount Pleasant Pleas-ant and Mor'oni in going over the beet growing districts of both Mount Pleasant and Moroni and in making mak-ing a very thorough examination of each site suggested. On Thursday the factory directors again met, this time in the North Sanpete Bank at Mount Pleasant where the written report of the engineers en-gineers was carefully considered and following the advice of that report the Niels Olson' farm, laying about midway between Moroni and Chester, was decided upon as offering the best advantages and so was selected as the place for the factory. The choosing of a site so far from Mount Pleasant came as a great dis-sappointment dis-sappointment to many of the citizens and beet growers of Mount Pleasant who1 had worked very hard in the hope that the factory would be erected erect-ed closer to this city. The Pyramid Is glad, however, and we are sure all the citizens of Mount Pleasant are also, to see a sugar factory assured for the county and following cut our determination when the sugar factory fac-tory movement was first started, we propose to stand loyally by the enterprise en-terprise and support it in every way possible. We know both the engineers engin-eers and the directors of the company com-pany acted In good faith and honestly honest-ly did what they regarded as best for the success of the enterprise and e are assured that the company will work to the interests of the Mount Pleasant beet growers and make it as convenient as possible for them to handle their beet crops. With this assurance and In view of the increased price to be paid for beets in 1917 which the company announce an-nounce will be $6.00 per ton, we hope to see every acre contracted in Mount Pleasant properly prepared for beet planting next spring. There is talk of a celebration bb a result of the sugar factory being an assured fact but the officers of the company suggest that such celebration cele-bration be deferred until actual building operations begin. |
