Show i - j FAIRVIEW i ' New City Officials The new city officials took the j reins of government the first of the year. At their first official meeting the following appointments were made by Mayor John L. Bench and confirmed by the council: City Marshall. S. S. Funeral Services Held for AHf Greco , Alif Greco died January 6 at his home in Fairview, of Pneumonia. He had been in poor health the past year, but contracted Pneumonia only on-ly one week before his death. Funeral Fun-eral services were held in the L. D. S. meeting house Sunday. Swen O. Mr. Greco was forty-four years old and leaves a wifa and two small children to mourn hit! loss. The funeral was well attended. His aged mother and brother, Ezra and a number of friends and rolatives from Mt. Pleasant were present. His father, Alif Greco, his brother Peter and wife and nephew John Greco and wife of Richfield were present. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. OBCar Norman. Born to the wife of Fred Staker, Jan. 10, a boy. Born to the wife of Earl Hansen, Jan. 7., a boy. Nina Cruser is reported as doing very well. King Winter reigns supreme. The thermometer registered ten degrees below "zero Tuesday and Wednesday.' Mrs. Newel Cox is spending ten days visiting relatives and friends at Castle Dale. Mrs. E. A. Day, Sr., is spending a month with her daughter, Mrs. Ellis Coombs at Brigham City. Mrs. Maria Nielson returned Monday Mon-day from Tooele where she has spent the last month visiting with her sons. Nephi Cruser has erected a new up to date building for his chopping machine. , 'Mrs. Pete Hansen went to Storrs, Utah, Friday to stay a month with her children, Mr. and Mrs. Will Anderson. An-derson. James Peterson who fell ana broke three of his ribs two weeks ago is still under the doctor's care, but is improving. Miss Atejia Sanderson returned home from the Winters Hospital Monday having been there for five weeks following an operation for appendicitis. , John Gittins of Cameron, Idaho, is visiting friends and relatives in Fairview. John Blanchett of Teton, Idaho, visited relatives here last week. Mrs. Willis Howell entertained Monday, Jan. 10 in honor of her birthday. About thirty-five were present, pre-sent, most of her children and grandchildren, grand-children, dinner was served and a pleasant evening spent. Saturday evening a mass meeting will be held in the Opera House, all ; taxpayers are expected to be present. The meeting is for the purpose of 'discussing the feasibility of the City taking over the local water works system and enlarging and extending it. The Ladles' Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Swen O. Nielson, Jan. 12. Current events were given by Mrs. Carl Sundwall. A poem, "The Life of the Master," by S. S. : Jones, was read by Mrs. T. M. Rasmussen. Ras-mussen. Dainty refreshments were served; twelve ladies were present. Mrs. C. P. Jensen returned Thursday Thurs-day from Brigham City where she went to spend the holidays with her daughter. About thirty of her friends and children surprised her Thursday evening and a genuine good time was had by all present. Singing and music was enjoyed together to-gether with a splendid luncheon. Sunday evening a surprise party was given Oscar Amundson by a few of friends. At a game of bridge the best players, Mrs. Ellis Vance and Mrs. Andrea Jensen received prizes. The boobie prize was given to Mr. Amundson and Mary Jensen Refreshments were served at 12 to the following couples: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cruser, Mr. and Mrs. Kimball Mower Mr. and Mrs. Will Vance, Mr. and Mrs. Elias Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Jack rhearson, Benjamin Thearson, Mrs. Albert Pederson.
