Show HiSSclool Hotel? Our school is now well started and the prospects for this year's work are very bright. There are now about one hundred ten students en rolled and more are entering nearly -very daj. Principal Nielson expects the enrollment to reach or.e hundered fifty. Most of the old students are brek again together with the largest fr shman class that ever ent.- ed t ie school, which shows that thi. school is being recognized as equal with other schools and that it will continue to grow rapidly. Although we miss greatly the graduating class of last year we ire glad to h.'ar they are continun-mg continun-mg in their school work. Of the fourteen who graduated, nine are now attending college, four teaching teach-ing in the public schools and only one remaining at home. At the U. )f U. are, Plumas Boyden, Merlin Madsen, Roanna Larsen, Lean Winkler, Wink-ler, Geneve Johnson, and Flossie Staker. At the B. Y. U. Vasco Tanner Tan-ner and Fern Watson. Those teaching teach-ing are Ernest Pritchett, in Nevada, George Olsen at Fairview, Lucile Frandsen at Centerville and Ruby Madsen at Fountain Green. Myrtle Johnson is staying at home this yean We have a large representation from both Fairview and Spring City there being sixteen from the former and eight from the latter place and vve expect more from these places in the near future. The faculty is much larger this year. We have eight teachers spending spend-ing all their time in the High School. The departments of Manual Training, Train-ing, Agriculture and Physical Culture Cul-ture for girls are new this year. Our laboratories are being well equiped md this will enable the students to do much experimental work in the natural sciences. Four more rooms have been finished and furnished, completing the second floor of the ouilding and making room for the larger number of students, and department de-partment of work. With all these new improvements and additions to the High School we should be able to make this school year the best and most successful suc-cessful we have ever had and we believe tnat the students and all who are in any way connected with the school are putting forth their greatest great-est efforts toward this end. The B. Y. U. Concert Company was here Thursday night under the auspices of the students of the North Sanpete High School. They gave a ?ood entertainment to the music loving people of Mt. Pleasant. Those who comprised the company were: Professer Lund, Mabel Borg, Loa Roberts, as readers and Professor Goodmansen, as violinist. A very enjoyable evening was spent by all present. Although a fair audience was present it is to be regretted that more people were not there to enjoy the musical treat. The proceeds will go to the needs of the Student Body. Perhaps the people have noticed that the N. S. H. boys are wearing their working clothes lately and that they are busy with teams, sieves shovels, etc. Well here's tne reason: The N. S. H. needed pavement from the main entrance of the building to the sidewalk and they found that the only way to get it was to do it themselves, so the boys will do the work and the girls get the lunch. Good practice for latter life. Why not come to "Hyskule"? ATHLETICS The outlook for Athletics in the school this year is very favorable. The boys in the different classes are anxious to have the best team, and are working for the cup which is to be givento the champion class team of the school. Mr. Jensen, the teacher teach-er of athletics and a few of the boys went over to the Armory the other day and fixed up tne baskets and got everything in readiness for the athletics. There is also some talk of a Foot B ill team but nothing has been done in that line yet. It is thought that the Freshmen and Seniors will have some difficult contests during the class series, but the Seniors are determined to be victorious. Till: TRCCRAM ! ,,Ye are glad to announce that the daily program which has under gone a series of operations 'and computations computa-tions which have bid fair to prove fatal has entirely recovered and is causing no more anxiety to either students or Faculty. Since noon classes have been organized, or-ganized, lunch seems to be out of the question. It is alright for people trying to reduce, or athletes in training but the students who are doing neither of these things would greatly appreciated it if borne one would invent a form of nourishment which could be taken in capsule form between classes. We have a new addition to the sludent body in the skeleton, belonging be-longing to Dr. Winters. It looks cheerful, if not handsome,, and it is to be hoped that it will prove to be the only dead one in the student body this year. Some of the citizens of Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant may have been alarmed at the strange sounds, long drawn and penetrating as a cross cut saw, which float from the windows of the high school at times. There is no cause for alarm. The new voices in the choir are getting in training. Thats all. |
