Show Potato Growing; Contest Ruel H. Seely, 13-year old son of Joseph Seely, is working for the prize offered by the National Copper Bank of Salt Lake City, for the best potatoes grown onahalf acre of land. Ruel was instructed by the bank to dig a fair sample of his potatoes and j send them to the State Fair, where the judging will be done by men who are trained for the work. Tuesday he took James W. Anderson, H. C. Beaumann, Cashier of the North Sanpete Bank, and the editor of the Pyramid to his field of potatoes and Mr. Anderson and McArthur measured meas-ured off just one-half acre of potatoes pota-toes for the young farmer to dig. He was instructed to dig three rows and have all of the potatoes weighed and then take fifty pounds of the nicest tubers for the contest. All the boys who have entered this contest will be entertained at the fair and other places during the week. The Railroad has also furn-nisded furn-nisded them with transportation. The Pyramid wishes Ruel all that can be hoped for in this contest. |
