MORONI I I By Specal Corespondence Funeral Services Held Saturday Afternoon for Willard Blackham Funeral services for Willard Blackham, age 84, were held last Saturday at 2 p. m. in the West ward chapel with Counselor Coun-selor Rulon Johnson conducting. The prayers were offered by wesiaent ueorge M. Anderson and Joseph N. Revill and the speakers were Ralph Anderson, Heber Christensen, Bishop Ephraim Eph-raim Nelson and Rulon Johnson, all of whom paid beautiful tributes tri-butes to his life and character, and spoke of the many friends he had, both old and young. A vocal solo, "Sing Me To Sleep" was sung by Mrs. Pearl Christensen Christen-sen with Mrs. Lyua Christensen at the organ. The East ward male quartet sang, "Though Deepening Trials" and consists of the following, Harold Arnold-sen, Arnold-sen, Mack Morley, John K. Guy-mon Guy-mon and La Monte Blackham, with Mrs. Deneice Blackham as accompanist. The combined East and West ward choir sang, "Sometime We'll Understand," and "I Need Thee Every Hour," with Florence Christensen conducting. con-ducting. There were many beautiful floral offerings, arid an unusually unusual-ly large number of Moroni people peo-ple present, as well as from out of town, who were at the services, serv-ices, all of which were an evidence evi-dence of the respect and high esteem in which the family is held. Interment was in the Moroni cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Bishop James Niel-son. Niel-son. Mr. and Mrs. Oman Olson are rejoicing over the safe arrival of a baby girl on July 3rd at the Madsen hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Draper have just returned from a most delightful trip to San Francisco and also Carson City, Nevada where they spent their vacation for a week with relatives. Their daughter, Karen has recently returned re-turned from her vacation with relatives in Carson City, Nevada. The 4th of July celebration was a big success and was well attended. at-tended. It began with a rodeo on July 3rd and then on July 4th with a splendid program at 11 a. m. which was followede by a wonderful parade which was enjoyed greatly by thousands of people from far and near, who came to see it. The unusually good rodeo was then scheduled and was most entertaining and all felt amply paid for being present. The celebration was in charge of chairman Joseph N. Revill, who was well supported by his large committee of willing and dependable workers. They all appreciated the cooperation of all who made floats and helped in any way to make the big event so outstanding. Mr. and Mrs. Neldon Jackson and family of Salt Lake City are spending their vacation with relatives and friends in Moroni and Wales, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey and family of Salt Lake City spent July 4th here and also came to attend the funeral services of Willard Blackham. Miss Mary Draper of Fountain Green is at the Dice hospital where she was operated on for appendicitis on July 3rd. Mrs. Daisy Blackham of Salt Lake City is spending a few days with relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pleuger and son of Los Angeles visited this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Christensen and were accompanied back home by her young brother. Bert, who will spend two weeks with them at their home. Mr. and Mrs. John Allen of Charleston, Ut. returned to their home Monday after spending July 4th with President and Mrs. George M. Anderson and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Xunley are the proud parents of a baby girl born at the Dice hospital on ! Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Jensen of Salt Lake City are visiting this week with relatives and friends here. A shower was given last Tuesday Tues-day night in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Syme in the East ward chapel with Miss Roberta Olson in charge of the delightful program which was rendered. Delicious refreshments were then served. The newly weds received many beautiful and useful gifts and have the best wishes of everyone for a long and hapy married life. They have rented an apartment apart-ment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Salisbury and will move in soon. Mr. and Mrs. Doyce Crowther of Fountain Green are rejoicing over the safe arrival of a baby boy at the Dice hospital on July (ith. The mother was formerly Miss Darlene Christensen of Moroni. Mo-roni. Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Aagard and family of Albion, Ida. spent July '1th with friends and relatives rela-tives here. Rex Jensen of the U. S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Jensen is happy to be at home again, and will receive his honorable discharge from the U. S. Service on July 11th. |
