Show Cold Weather And Safety By Dorothy Winkler North Sanpete Jr. High, Crade 8 Now that thv re Is snow, v.e the people of Mt. Pleasant are concerned for the traffic safety In and around our city. As I look out of the window I see a car skidding up the snow covered road. It Is still snowing a heavv wet snow and It clings to the ligMs and windshields. wind-shields. The pedestrian before trying to cross any thoroughfare thorough-fare should be sure that he has plenty of time to get across, if he tries to hurry he might fall in front of a car and with the highways such as they are todnv the driver's brakes inav cause his car to a skid right "into the fallen person. Both people and cars should avoid situations ol this kind. Bicycles should always have a reflector on the rear and a light on the front for use a-night. a-night. Bicycle riders should keep looking around to see what is coming behind them. When they do this, they nvailv always swerve their bicycles to the center of the highway therefore endangering their lives. Another safety rule that would be good to follow would be, not to step from the curb until you have looked both ways, and when started across the highway do not become confused and dart back. I feel that If everyone would observe these few rules, everyone every-one would have less chance to become Involved In a traffic accident. |
