Show Fairview Tucker Man Is 87 Years Old We are so proud of this 'good-natured 'good-natured friend of everyone' called call-ed Uncle Amasa, and to think he is now 87 years old. He eel ebrated his birthday Wednesda at the home of his son, Gu Tucker in Cedar City. Amasa Tucker was born ai Mt. Pleasant March 1, 1863, c son of Amasa Tucker Sr., and Rebecca Winters Tucker. In 1866 the family moved to Fair-view Fair-view where Mr. Tucker hat, ! spent most of his life. He married Lois A. Terry Nov. 8, 1883 in the Manti Temple. She died September 16, 1938. He worked as a member o the building committee whei the present Fairview Soutl ward LDS chapel was built. Hi has always been an active mem ber of the LDS church, and i now a member of the hig priests quorum in Fairview South ward. He acted as foreman of the Temple mill when the Mant - Temple was built. He has beei a farmer and also in the lum ber business most of his life. They had seven children, but only one daughter and twe sons are living. They are Gu' Tucker of Cedar City, Hilde Tucker and Mrs. Ellis Madse-, Madse-, of Fa'rview. He has 19 livin grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. ... Fairview Junior high school sophomores recently sponsored a matinee dance for the student body : to raise funds toward a class project for the school, according ac-cording to Otis Nielsen, class adviser. It has been a tradition each year for the tenth grade to give some worthy gift to the school. In the past they have given to the school a cement walk, curtains cur-tains for the stage, ground improvements im-provements and mimeograph machine. Last year the tenth grade helped to purchase a moving mov-ing picture projector which the school is enjoying very much. The tenth grade also plans on selling lunches, ice cream, etc.. at the annual May Day celebration. celebra-tion. They will also sponsor more good picture shows. ; The show "Little Men" was just shown to the public school Fairview Junior chamber o commerce - sponsored Monday evening the drama, "The Barretts Bar-retts of Wimpole Street", presented pre-sented by the BYU speech department, de-partment, for the purpose of raising funds to light the ball park. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Romero were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Broad - J head and sons of Nephi, Mr. and Mrs. Berkley White of Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Romero of Spanish Fork, , Mr. and Mrs. Richard Romero of Tooele, Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Lund of Fountain Green, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Daley and Mrs. Lorenzo C. Daley of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Christensen Christen-sen and Elsie Margaret will leave Friday to motor to California Cali-fornia where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. John Christensen, also two of Ruben's sisters and their familes. Visiting for several days at the home of Mrs. Vera Stewart were Miss Bonnie Lee Stewart and McKay Wallace of Salt Lake city. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Evans of Denver, Colorado, have been visiting here the past week with relatives and friends. In Provo Saturday to attend funeral services for a relative were Mr. and Mrs. Vernile Stewart, Stew-art, Mr. and Mrs. Amasa Terry Phylandia Turpin, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Cheney, Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Graham. Pupils of the Sixth grade presented pre-sented a special minuet and square dance as part of the entertainment en-tertainment at a recent Lions Club meeting and banquet. - The play, "An Orchid For Margaret" was presented in the Fairview South ward MIA Tues day night, under the direction of Mrs. Norma Elaine Anderson, to become a Golden Gleaner. This is one of her requirements. The cast includes: Gale Mad-sen, Mad-sen, Adele Rasmussen, Joan Lar-sen, Lar-sen, Junior Howell and Glennys Madsen. Mr. and Mrs. J. Keith . Rigby are enjoying the winter In New York. Mr. Rigby is attending Columbia University on a scholarship from BYU. Thev attended the MIA Gold -and Green Ball held there. Mrs. Rigby is a counselor in the Primary Pri-mary organization there. |
