Show Sssie Need Food; Others. Gims There are intimations that a persistent effort is about to be launched to persuade Amer. cans to biipport a drive to feed tne destitute millions of Europe. There is general agreement that Germany, having seized certain cer-tain countries, is snatching all a ailable resources, including much food. The shortage that develops is due, n part, to this taking and to the fact that Germany Ger-many is compelling conquered people to labor in the interest of Germany instead of allowing them to produce crops. Every sh pment of food that gels into Europe will ease the burden that belongs to Germany and assist in the upkeep of peoples peo-ples who are now, even if un-wilixigly, un-wilixigly, working to produce the materials that Germany must have to wage war. It is understood, that the British Brit-ish government has made some concessions but this should not mislead anyone .nto believing that the British intend to give up tne r blockade. Certainly, there is no indication that the government govern-ment oi cms country is going to put any pressure upon the British Briti-sh to do anything that will injure in-jure the cause of the British. The inteiestmg revelation is that some of the Americans who are worried over the lack of food in conquered Europe are not concerned con-cerned over the lack of defensive weapons in Great Britain. They would coerce the British for the ociiof t of the occupied zones and Germany but they object to the United States doing anything to ass st the British, who need mu-:iidons mu-:iidons in their fight to live as much, as other peoples, now tinier tin-ier the lazi yoke, need food. |
