Practically no one now be-; be-; lieves that isolation will protect J th:s country or assure its safety. We are now engaged in a defense j program that will cost more than ! $30,000,000,000. If the policy or isolation had ; been successful, we would have j avoided most of th s enormous j expense. As it is, we must con-j con-j elude that isolation is one of the most expensive policies ever ' adopted by the American peopie. |
