Show Wales Sells Its Power Plant To Telluride The Town Board of Wales, acting act-ing under authority of an overwhelming over-whelming vote of the taxpayers, lias sold the - town's electric distribution system to Telluride Power Company, and has granted a 50-year franchise to the company, compa-ny, according to an announcement announce-ment by Ben Lamb, president of the Town Board. i The deal, which became effective effec-tive March 1, has received the sanction of the State Public Service Serv-ice Commission, the latter having hav-ing issued to the company the inquired certificate of convenience conven-ience and necessity, Mr. Lamb said. The town built , the electric system 25 years ago, arid hat-been hat-been purchasing power from Bir Springs Power Company, a Telluride Tel-luride affiliate. Mr. Lamb stated the town decided to get out of the power business because the :leelric system requires substantial substan-tial expenditures for enlargement enlarge-ment and repairs, and the power company can provide better service to the townspeople at much lower rates than under the municipal operation. The receipts re-ceipts from the sale of the property pro-perty will he applied to needed public improvements, Mr. Lamb added. |
