Show Given Sentence Mrs. Margaret llalverson, former for-mer e.ty treasurer ol Gunnison, sentenced by District Judge .( nn A. Hougaard to a term of rem one to ten years in the stale 4-ri.,on for embezzlement. Mrs. llalverson is charged with uaving appropriated to her own use 5,0-17.22 that came into her nands as city treasurer. The audit tiled with the State-Auditor State-Auditor January 17 disclosed the shortage oecured from January 1, lU3ii to December 12, l'J3'J. $400.-'i2 $400.-'i2 was found to be short in deposits de-posits from receipts issued by Mrs. llalverson and $1543,50 for which no receipts had been issu-td. issu-td. Mrs. llalverson pleaded guilty lo the charge March C when oudge Hougaard suspended the .mpusition of sentence and referred refer-red the case to the State Adult Probation and Parole Board for an investigation. In pronouncing sentence, Judge Hougaard said he was disappointed disappoint-ed in the report of the Adult Probation Pro-bation and Parole Department oecau.se of Mrs. Halverson's failure fail-ure to cooperate fully with the Hoard. Mrs. llalverson was then placed plac-ed on probation to the Department Depart-ment oi Adult Probation and Parole and ordered to reappear .n court May 7 at which time her case will be disposed of accord- ng to the recommendation of the Probation Department based on Is lurther investigation. |
