Show i FAIRVIEW i By Special Correspondence Little Dixie Ann Day Dies From Whopping Cough Illness Little Dixie Ann Day, the three months old daughter of Arthur and Ida Garlic Day, died at the home of her parents Sunday afternoon af-ternoon of Whooping Cough. - The baby was born March 28, at Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are her parents, and i three brothers, Merrill, Ronald I ana Bryant Day and a grand- mother, Mrs. Eliza Day oi Fair-' Fair-' view and a grand father, Mr. William Garlic of Manti. Funeral services for little Dixie ! Ann Day were conducted at the home ot her parents Monday af-5 af-5 ternoon at four o'clock with S Bishop Golden D. Carlston con-S con-S ducting the service. A vocal solo, "One Fleeting N Hour," was sung by Floyd Young, accompanied on the piano by Miss Miriam Peterson. The open-w open-w ing prayer was offered by George M Day. A violin solo, "Brahms Lul-1V Lul-1V laby," was played by Professor f Dean and was accompanied on if the piano by Mrs. Ellis Madsen. The first speaker was Newell 7 Cox, who spoke comforting wards ' to the bereaved parents. A duet, "Your Sweet Little Rose Bud Has Left You," was sung by Miss Georgia Shepherd and Mrs. An-jt An-jt nie Jensen, the accompanist was i Miss Norma Jones. The next ffc speaker was Bishop Golden Carls-ton, Carls-ton, who spoke of the high es-teem, es-teem, love and respect in which Mr. and Mrs. Day and family are held in this community. Pleasant for the present. lS Mrs. Jane Day, Mrs. Edgar Wilcox Wil-cox and Mrs. Martha Westwood of Moapa, Utah were visitors in U1AI Fairview last Monday. Mrs. Roma Tucker entertained , a party on the 13th day of June ; in honor of her little daughter, Joye's 9th birthday anniversary. The afternoon was spent in playing play-ing games. Dainty refreshments were served to thirty frineds. Sergeant Gomer F. Llewellyn, who has been serving in the , Army in Alaska for the past two years, has been enjoying a 20-! 20-! day delay en route with his fam-: fam-: ily and friends, and now has left for Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Mrs. Alice TucKer and two children chil-dren of Los Angeles, California 1 are visiting with relatives and friends at Fairview. Mrs. Wendle Nielson and two children of Philadelphia are visiting vis-iting with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. Allie L. Calrston. This is Mrs. Niel-son's Niel-son's first visit to Fairview in the past six years. Mrs. Laura Vance was hostess to the Bridge club at her home Wednesday evening. Dainty refreshments re-freshments were served to eleven members and one special guest. Prizes were won by Mrs. Varda Vance and Mrs. Mary Sanders. Mrs. Mark Peterson of Cambridge, Cam-bridge, Idaho and Mrs. Dave Frank of Weiser, Idaho were guests at the home of Mrs. Frank Vance the past week. They also visited with other relatives and friends in Fairview and Mount Pleasant. Mrs. Emily Christofferson of Idaho is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Hilma Turpin, who is seri-ouely seri-ouely ill at her home. Corporal Dean Vance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Vance, who is in the Marine Corps and who is an instructor at Boat Basin. Ocean Side, California, came home on leave Sunday, June 18 to visit with his parents and other oth-er relatives and friends He left for his station on the 28th of June. Mr. and Mrs. Ellrey Christen-sen Christen-sen and family were visitors in Salt Lake City this week. Mr. Arthur Tucker of Provo visited vis-ited with his parents over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Rueben White of Clear Creek were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Nordstrom over the week end. The Primary offiers and teachers teach-ers of the Fairview North ward held an outing and picnic for the Primary children last Tuesday afternoon. The afternoon was spent in playing games and an "Amateur Hour," was conducted with all the children taking part. Everyone enjoyed a very fine time. Mr .and Mrs. Ezra Vance entertained en-tertained at a dinner at their home Tuesday afternoon in honor hon-or of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Vance of Salt Lake City and Corporal Dean Vance, who was home on leave from the Marine Corps. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Vance, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Vance, Mrs. Thelma Lowe, Mrs. Betty Nielson, Cpl. Dean Vance and Miss Leatha Vance. A "Gold Star Mothers Tea," will be held in the Fairview South ward chapel Friday at 2 p. m. All Mothers who have sons in the Service are invited. Mr. Clyde Cox, who is in the U. S. Navy, is spending his leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burns Cox. Clyde will leave Friday Fri-day for Farragut, Idaho. Mr. Donald Cox, who has spent the past winter and spring, is also visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burns Cox; also Mr. and Mrs. Art Greco and family fam-ily of Salt Lake City, visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cox over the week end. Miss Beth James of Castle Gate spent the week end visiting with her Grand mother, Mrs. Nancy JclITlGS Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Garlic of Amerian Fork were visitors in Fairview on Monday. Miss Alie Cox, who has had employment in Washington during dur-ing the past year, is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Louie Cox. Mrs. Valina Cheney entertained the "Rook Club" at her home last Friday afternoon. The afternoon was spent in playing Rook. Delicious De-licious refreshments were served to the guests Keith Vance, son of Mrs. Besse Vance is at home this week on leave. He will return Sunday, July 2nd to Fayette, Missouri where he is in training in the V-12 unit of the U. S. Navy. Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Mower of Magna, Utah announce the marriage mar-riage of their son,, Aviation Machinist's Ma-chinist's Mate, Third class Elden L. Mower, U. S. N., to Miss Winni-fred Winni-fred Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Anderson of Long Island, N. Y. The marriage was solemnized at Miami, Fla. where they were entertained by their friends. The young couple spent their honeymoon in New York at the home of the bride's parents, where a wedding reception recep-tion was held. They are now stationed sta-tioned at Miami, Florida, U. S. N. Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Mower of Magna, Utah wish to announce the birth of a son, born to Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon B. Mower of Tacoma, Washington. Mr. Mower was recently inducted into the Armed Services of the U. S. The Mowers also announce the birth of a grandchild born to Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Blain Brown of South Carolina. Blain Brown was formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, Utah. Mrs. Brown was the former Miss Vivian Mower of Fairview, Utah. The Mowers at Magna, Utah formerly lived at Fairview, Utah and have three children in the armed forces of our country. Mr. and Mrs. Arlo C. Jensen and daughter, Karolyn Joy of Salt Lake City visited the past week with Chris Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Jensen of Fair-view. Fair-view. Miss Maurine Jensen of Castle Dale, Utah is spending her vacation va-cation with Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Jensenat Fairview. |
