Show I MORONI I 3y Special Correspondence I Fred Guymon of the U. S. Navy spent two days with relatives and friends at Moroni. He was on his way to Asbury Park, New Jersey where he has just been u-ansierred from Los Angeles to; further training. He was accompanied accom-panied by Miss Mary Jackson ol Cincinnati, Ohio. Family dinners din-ners in their honor were enjoyed uy che immediate relatives at their homes. ,,,. Mrs. Merrill Johnson left Monday Mon-day for Salt Lake City to visit with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred Erickson of Manhattan, Kansas, who is spending a few days there. , . Mr. Kenneth Nunley of Mount Pleasant has been visiting with his grandmother, Mrs. Jane Hutchinson. He is home on a furlough of 2 weeks from the U. 6. Service. The radio playlet, "That Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief," which was presented last Sunday by members of the Moroni West ward was a big success. It was ivon at Sacrament meeting in Movoni West ward chapel at 12 o'clock noon, and was a drama tization of the "Martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith" and was all given by use of the microphone. mi-crophone. There were nearly 200 people who were in attendance to enjoy it. The play was written writ-ten by Patriarch Joseph F. Smith and was directed by James Prest- wich. Those who took part as singers and players were: Pearl Christensen, Anna Robertson, Florence Christensen, Lucy Black ham, Helena Olson, Lewis Black-ham, Black-ham, Harlod Christensen, Udell Anderson, President George Anderson, And-erson, Monte Jensen, McCoy Larson, Lar-son, Ray Kelson and Ray Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Vance and son of Murray, Utah, Mr. and Mrs. Evertt Orstrom and baby of Ogden and Mrs. Karl Bird and baby of Salt Lake City visited this past week with relatives and friends at Moroni. The Jr. Sorosis club were entertained en-tertained last Wednesday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Millie Seeley at Mt. Pleasant. They enjoyed en-joyed a pleasant social hour, after which a delicious hot dinner din-ner was served. Th,e Stake' M, I. A. sponsored an outing for the girls of Moroni Mo-roni Stake last Monday and it was a big success. They went to "Arrowhead" to enjoy swim-mnig, swim-mnig, after which they enjoyed playing games and also gave a delightful program. They then enjoyed eating their lunches. There were 117 present which included in-cluded the officers and teachers, who accompanied them. Mrs. Stanley Carter and daughter, daugh-ter, Sherry spent a few days in Provo this week Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Johnson have purchased the old home of the family which formerly was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Johnson. They are moving into it this week. The food was then prepared and served. Plans for the next meeting were made and the Pledge of A le-giance le-giance was given and the club meeting was then dismissed. The Home Makers 4-H club was organized June 2, with the following officers chosen: President, Pres-ident, Shirley Little; Vice President, Presi-dent, Phyllis Blackham; Secretary Secre-tary 'and Treasurer, Joyce Christensen; Chris-tensen; Reporter, Julia Christensen. Christen-sen. The leaders are Eyvonne Draper and Thelma Sorensen. Mr and Mrs. Lawrence Kelson and Mr. and Mrs. Elden Westen-skow Westen-skow entertained the Agricultural men and wives of Sanpete county coun-ty Saturday evening at the home of Mr. Kelson. A hot dinner was served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Spafford Sumsion, Moroni; Mr. and Mrs. Vern H. Gunder, Supt. and Mrs. J. R. Bagnall, and Mr. Lovd Olsen, Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Downs, and Mr. p.nd Mrs. Sam Gorden, Eph-raim Eph-raim "County Agent and Mrs. Elmer El-mer H. Gibson, and Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Alder Manti; Mr. and Mrs. Urvin Henrie, Gunnison. After the dinner the remainder of the evening was spent in discussing agricultural problems, land-scaping and rose gardens. Mr. John E. Jensen announces the marriage of his son, Grant Jensen to Miss Edna Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Cook of Fountain Green. They were married in the Manti Temple Tem-ple on Tuesday, June 27th. They will make their nome in Moroni. Mrs. Ida Dice has just received word from her son, Bert stating that he is fine and is now stationed sta-tioned "somewhere in Ireland." Mr. and Mrs. Ray Arnoldsen, Mr and Mrs. Frank Hardy and family fami-ly and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Harris, Har-ris, all of McGill, Nevada are visiting with friends and relatives rela-tives at Moroni. Mrs. Cleon Anderson has returned re-turned from a most delightful trip to New York City. After visiting vis-iting there she spent a few days with her son, Jack Anderson, who is in the U. S. Service in Kentucky. |
