Show Wasatch Wins, No. Sanpete Loses As Football League Play Closes Wasatch academy took the measure of a previously unde-leated unde-leated Millard team Thursday afternoon 13-7 as North Sanpete lost a tough one to Delta 20-1'J. Both games were played in Mt. Pleasant, the North Sanpete-Delta Sanpete-Delta game on the N.S. gridiron and the Millard game on the Wasatch field. Thursdays games left Millard and Delta In a tie for top spot with three wins and one loss apiece; North Sanpete In second with two wins and two losses, and Wasatch academy and Hinckley tied for last with one win and three losses. Although Wasatch has actually won two and lost two in league play their opening game with Hinckley Hinck-ley was declared forfeited hy the State High School Activities association after two players on the W. A. team were declared ineligible for competition. The North Sanpete-Delta game could have been won by the Rams had they converted on either of their first two touchdowns. Their third touchdown touch-down was made in the late minutes of the game after Delta Del-ta had recovered a fumble on the one-yard Ram line and pushed it over for points. Even by converting on its third touchdown North Sanpete was unable to overtake the 20 points mustered by the Delta lads. Wasatch Academy's convincing convinc-ing victory over the Millard footballers was sparked by Bob Moore of Caliente, Nev., who was lugging the ball on both touchdowns. In yardage gained, the Tigers set up a formidable record as they progressed 375 yards to Millard's 170. Thursdays games were the last in league play for this season. |
