Show Sanpete Farm News Given By Russ Keetch Trees for farmers woodlot and windbreak planting will be a-vailable a-vailable next spring to Sanpete farmers and ranchers, reports county agent Russel R. Keetch. This fall is the proper time to plan and prepare the ground for planting of these trees, said Mr. Keetch. Land on which trees are to be planted should be thoroughly thorough-ly plowed now and left rough over winter. Plowing will remove spd which will complete with young trees fo resoil moisture next spring. Plowed soil with its crumbly structure will absorb much moisture mois-ture from winter storms to provide pro-vide needed moisture for early spring planting. Good soil conditions con-ditions and moisture will guarantee guar-antee excellent survival and growth of these very young trees which are available each year from the College nursery. Order blanks for the trees are available upon request from the county agents office at the courthouse court-house in Manti. Also, recommendations recom-mendations for tree species suitable suit-able for this locaity can be obtained. ob-tained. The county agent is meeting with members of the Sanpete Dairy Marketing Association to outline two program functions, one a country-wide dairy tour the other a purchasing trip for foundation dairy cattle in Cache Valley. K. Barton's ranch in Manti; Paul .Keeler's Manti and Clay Madsen's Manti. |
