Show i : 1 I FOUNTAIN GREEN I Bv Special Correspondence I Fountain Green Man Is Feted William Collard, a life long resident res-ident of Fountain Green and also the oldest man in the community, communi-ty, celebrated tiis 82nd birthday February 6th. J'". been a member of the City Council, Coun-cil, watermaster, shearing plant manager, Justice of The Peace, school teacher and merchant. He has been active in L D S church work and has fulfilled two missions. mis-sions. He was counselor in the Bishopric and held many other positions. He has a fine tenor voice, being a member of the ward choir . for many years. He has five living sons and daughters, William O. Collard, Huntsville; George E. Collard, Provo; Harold VL. Collard, Idaho Falls, Ida.; Reed Collard, Fountain Foun-tain Green; Mrs. Leah C. Weber, Portland, Oregon; 32 grandchildren grandchil-dren and 16 great grandchildren. Mr. Collard attributes his long active career to work, which is his chief delight. r Birth Announced : Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bailey are I happy to announce the birth of ; a son, born February 1st at the ; Madsen hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Servicemen Returned ! Homer Robertson, son of Mrs. Lyman Seeley, recently released from the service, is most happy to be a civilian again. Homer has spent 3 years of service as a ; Seabee in the South Pacific theater of war. Dorian Mikkelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Niels E. Mikkelson, received re-ceived his release from the Service Serv-ice last week at Fort Douglas, Utah. He has also spent 3 years in the service. We are happy to welcome him home again. Home Economics . Club Reorganized At a recent meeting of the Home Economics club members the following new officers were elected for the year 1946 with Mrs. Martha Edler, president; Mrs. Jenna Anderson and Mrs. Ada Collard, vice presidents; Mrs. Lillian Snow, Secretary and Treasurer. Other committees will be shosen.at a later date. Social Items Mrs. Beth Anderson entertained the "Thursday Niters" at her home Thursday evening. Rook was played with high scores going go-ing to Mrs. Edna Christensen, second place to Mrs. Esther Beck and the consolation prize was a-warded a-warded to Mrs. Delia Crowther. Refreshments were served to the guests. Mrs. Arthur G. Anderson entertained enter-tained at a dinner Monday evening eve-ning in honor of her brother, Elliot Arnoldsen, who is enjoying a short furlough before leaving for overseas service. Mr. Farrell Hansen is recovering recover-ing from an appendicitis operation opera-tion at the Madsen hospital in Mt, Pleasant. Mr. Loyd Frandsen, who has employment in Ogden visited during the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Antone Frandsen. Mrs. Rowena Allred and daughter, daugh-ter, Ethlyn were Provo City visitors vis-itors during the week. Mrs. G. F. Johnson is visiting for a few. days with relatives in Bingham, Utah. Mrs. Macel Anderson entertained enter-tained her club members and eight special guests at a chicken dinner Saturday evening at her home. "500" was the evening's diversion. Miss Vonda Gay Ivory was operated op-erated on for appendicitis Sunday Sun-day evening at the Dice hospital in Moroni. Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Yorgason and sons, Val Gene and Forrest of Salt Lake City visited at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Gayle Yorgason. Miss Joyce Rasmussen is visiting visit-ing in Salt bake City with her sister, Mrs. Ruby Mangelson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Francom, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Carter of Levan and Mr. and Mrs. James Swensen of Moroni visited at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Carter, Sunday, Feb. 3rd. The occasion being the birthday anniversary of both . parents. A delicious hot dinnei was served and a most enjoyable time was spent. One Big Time Don't miss seeing and hearing one of the best patriotic programs. pro-grams. George and Martha Washington Washing-ton in costume will dance one of their favorites, "The Minuet." See and hear the famous Quar-tett Quar-tett sing. Listen to Kate Smith sing one of her favorites. The Negro Crooners will be at their best with their Southern Melodies. Girls dressed in costume will present "The Flag Drill." After the program dance with the 49ers Orchestra Best Ever in the Fountain Green Amusement Hall, February 20th. Program starts at 9 p. m.
