Show ! I SPUING CITY I By Special Correspondence 1 Heinz Larsen and Lynn Barney left Saturday for Milford after a ten day visit with relatives here. LeGrand Hansen left Thursday to report for duty at the Naval Station in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Everett Strate, who has been ill for several months, is slowly recovering. Mrs. Josephine Jensen of Sa-lina Sa-lina is visiting here with her lister, Mrs. Stena Allred. Delon Covert, thirteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elgent Covert, was operated upon for appendictis Saturday morning at the Madsen hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. David, fve-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferrel M. Sorensen, fell from a pile of lumber in the yard by their home and suffered a badly broken arm. The local doctor advised the parents to take the boy to Salt Lake City as the break was of a nature that called for special treatment. Mrs. Bertha Pedersen of Salt Lake City, has come here to care for her sister-in-law Mrs. Mary Robinson who is very UL A great number of Spring City people went to Mt. Pleasant Monday Mon-day forenoon to see the boys off who went with the National Guard, and to wish them luck. Jerry Jones left Sunday to report re-port in San Francisco after a month's furlow and visit here with his mother, Mrs. Warren E. Allred. Young Jones has been a sailor in the U. S. Navy for a number of years. Heinz Larsen accompanied by his sister, Miss Eleanor Larsen returned home last week from a motor trip to Ogden and Salt Lake City where they visited relatives. rel-atives. Last Thursday the local camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers ave a party in the Relief Society hall in honor of pioneers having birthdays in October, November, December, January, February, and March. Captain Ruth R. Osborne was in charge of the following program: pro-gram: Singing, "Happy Birthday Dear Pioneers"; "Old Oaken Bucket" and "Midnight Serenade"; Seren-ade"; sketch by Mrs. Emma Jensen Jen-sen and Mrs. Aurelia Madsen; song, Mable Beck and Olga Black; reading, Jennie A. Pleasant Pleas-ant on Sunday. The Annual Day party of the Relief Society was held in the Victory Hall, Monday at 2 p. m. The following program was presented: pre-sented: "Pagan Love Song", by (continued on last page) SPBING CITY (Continued from first page) the Singng Mothers; prayer, Mrs. Halena Bunnell; quartet, Jessie Schofield, Iva Aiken, Levern Biain and Lola Watson; candle l.ghting ceremony; tribute paid to past and living presidents of the Relief Society; piano solo, Miss Mary Larsen; reading, Ruby Allred; stunt dance; orchestra and ?ongs; J.p dance by four little girls, accompanied at the piano by Catherine Reese; sketch in pantomine, "Lochinvar", under direction of Ethel Larsen; "One Hundred Thousand Strong", by he Singing Mothers; the benediction benedic-tion was offered by Charlotte Ol-;en. Ol-;en. Retreshments were furnished furn-ished and served by the members of the F. A. C. ciub to one hundred hun-dred and fifty guests. Word was received by relatives here Thursday morning of the death Wednesday night of Mrs. George Oversireet at a Los Angeles Ang-eles hospital. Mrs. Overstreet is a daughter of Mrs. Mina Carlson of Spr.ng City, where she was born May 1, 1898. She has spent the past ten years in California. |
