Show SPBINC CITT I It Special Correspondence ' After much determination and work, the Freshman Class of Spring City Junior High, are ready to announce their dance, The Freshie Hop. Decorations are planned to the theme of "The Old Lamp Lighter". Committees in charge ot decorations and arrangements arrange-ments are: President, John Baxter; Bax-ter; vice president, Neva Beck; secretary and trearurer, Erler.e Hansen; and cheer leaders, Shirley Shir-ley Scaofield, MorRae Blain and Sherlene Allred. Special art features by Virginia Vir-ginia Thompson and Ina Rose Hansen. All students are helping help-ing to make the decorations a success. Music for the dance will be furnished by Devon's Swingsters of Manti, and the dance will be held in the Victory Vic-tory Hall, February 28th. Julin and daughters Barbara and Aileen and Mrs. Emma Jensen have gone to Salt Lake City. All but Mrs. Jensen will make their home there. Mrs. Melba Lancaster of Salt Lake City visited over the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Olsen. Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred visited in Fairview Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larsen. Mr. Gilbert Nyberg, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Syndergaard and children, Erwin, Genene and Tony K. of Salt Lake spent Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday at the home of Mrs. Eva Ericksen. Mr. Nyberg Ny-berg has improved from his recent re-cent illness. Keith Sorensen, Glade Petersen, Peter-sen, Nedv Allred, Russell Aiken, Sheldon Schofield and Connell Osborne have returned home from a three days trip to Bryce Canyon, Zions National Park. Grand Canyon, the northern part of Arizona, Boulder Dam and Las Vegas, Nevada, and other places of interest along the way. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schofield spent the weekend in Salt Lake City visiting their daughter Rosalie who is in the St. Marks hospital. Mrs. Phyllis Blain was hostess Thursday evening to the members mem-bers of the K. K. Club at her home. In playing progressive rook prizes were won by Mrs. Emma Sorensen, Mrs. Bessie Puzey and Mrs. Gladys Puzey and Mrs. Alida Jensen. Special guests were Mrs. Gladys Puzey and Mrs. Bessie Puzey. A delicious deli-cious lunch was served by the hostess. Sunday evening, March 2nd, the ward Relief Society will 1 present a special Sunday evening eve-ning service. The president, Mrs. Eva Grace Allred, will be in charge. The, theme is "A Figure in Bronze, This is the Place." The Singing Mothers chorus will sing several numbers num-bers in accordance with the theme. The readers are Mrs. Leona Terry and Mrs. Elva Allred. Max Blain,- local artist, has received a special letter of appreciation ap-preciation from Berkeley, California, Cali-fornia, for his three beautiful paintings sent to the recent Pacific Pa-cific Art Exhibit. Two hundred paintings were hung at the exhibit. ex-hibit. Mr. Ball, writer of the letter, notifies Mr. Blain his thrfee paintings were sold to the president of the Liohona Club, the Stake President and a counselor coun-selor in the Stake presidency. Mr. Blain's work received numerous num-erous comments of appreciation. Recently he painted the very beautiful oil paintings for the D. U. P. Centennial book, "These Our Fathers," a centennial history his-tory of Sanpete county. There are nine oils in the book, including in-cluding one of the Manti Temple, Tem-ple, the Horse Shoe Mountain above our city and, scenes of beauty in our valley, Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aikenf Mr. and Mrs. E, B. Cali-fornia. This makes two girls for Lloyd and his wife. Mr. and Mrs,. Lee M. (Bud) Allred of Butte, Montana, announce the birth- of their second boy, born February 17. Mr. and Mrs. Mar Dye are at the present time visiting with relatives in Salt Lake City. One of the outstandng additions addi-tions to the city's plans for the years celebration will be the local baseball team. Last year the games played hy the team in the Southern League was greatly enjoyed by all sport fans, Thi year the team is enlarging en-larging on plans for more of the sport. Uniform ball suits have been ordered and officers for the team have been selected as follows: President, Mayor Charles Char-les Thompson; directors, Don Donaldson, Willard Hansen and Eldon Neilsen; secretary and treasurer, Mar Dye; manager, Cutler Schofield. The offeers and team men will cooperate and take over many of the activities and plans for the Pioneer Day Celebration, Celebra-tion, July 24, which in the past has been one of the outstandinf celebrations of Sanpete county including the mornings program and t.-ibute paid to pioneers, the rodeo, sports, ball game, ant' barbecue, which has been one ol the best in the county. |
