Show MORONI B" Special Correspondence I Miles Hansen, Grandin Ostler and Boyd Goble are enjoying furloughs fur-loughs this week with relatives and friends at Moroni. Mrs. Ida Dice has received word that her son, Bert has left for overseas service in the U. S. Army and is somewhere in England. Eng-land. Mrs. Lee Taylor of Freedom an-nounes an-nounes the marriage on May 27th of her son, Corporal Floyd Taylor to Miss Lola Carson of Fairfield, Utah. She is the daughter of Bishop Bish-op and Mrs. Charles H. Carson, i'ne ceremony was performed by Bishop Magneson of the South Gate ward in the lounge of the Stake House at Huntington Park, Los Angeles, California. The bride wore an ivory satin gown with net trim and carried a bridal bouquet of red rose buds and baby breath. Her only attendant at-tendant was Mrs. John Charles Carson. Sergeant Walsh of New York City acted as best man. A reception was given immediately immedi-ately after the ceremony. The dining room was taken care of by Miss Mary Lee and Miss Daisy Hales. Mrs. Roland Maxon was in charge of the gift room with Mrs. Elmer Foutz assisting. Don Boulter and Wayne Corrigan were ushers. Mrs. Taylor is a graduate of the Brigham Young University. Her husband is also a graduate of the same institution. He has spent the past two years in the South Pacific. Mrs. Elaine Ostergaard of Pro-vo, Pro-vo, Edna Coates of Freedom and Wallace Taylor of California, who are the sisters and brother of the bridegroom were in attendance attend-ance at the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Pherris Nielson are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl, born on June 10th at the Dice Hospital. Mr. Nielson is in the service of the U. S. Navy and received word by telegram of the arrival of his infant daughter. daugh-ter. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Anderson and family have moved back to their home in Moroni from Mc Gill, Neveda, since his induction into the U. S. Army. He will leave for the service in the near future. Bishop and Mrs. Morris Jensen are the proud parents of a baby boy, born on June 11th at the Dice Hospital. A testimonial in honor of Miss Christie Olsen was given last Friday Fri-day evening by relatives and neighbors and friends at the home of Mrs. Venice Anderson where the time was spent in playing games, after which delicious de-licious refreshments were served. Many practical and useful gifts were presented to her. She left for the Mission Home on June 11th and was accompanied by her mother. She will leave Salt Lake City on June 21st for a mission to the New England states. Hostesses for the party were: Venice Anderson, Anna Robertson, Florence Christensen, Olive Blackham, Artena Christensen Chris-tensen and Lucy Blackham. The Jr. Sorosis club met last Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Julia Sorenson where they spent the time in quilting. They were then served to a most delicious de-licious luncheon. The mariage of Miss Marietta Blackham to Mr. Donnell Hen-roid Hen-roid was performed at 7:30 p. m. at the home of her parents on Tuesday, June 6th by President Dermont Madsen. The bride wore a beautiful white taffeta dress with a full length veil of bride's illusion. Her bouquet was of pink roses and gardenias. The bridal party consisted of La Faun Christensen as maid of honor, Darlyne Christensen, Ar-dys Ar-dys Blackham, Betty Jean Des-pain, Des-pain, Marceline Bailey and Lois Jensen as bride's maids and little Sharon Syme of Salt Lake City as flower girl. Friday afternoon a shower was given at the birde's home where delicious refreshments were served serv-ed to 40 guests who were present. An unusually large number of beautiful gifts were received. The young couple have rented part of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Blackham and moved in last week. Martenus Larsen returned home this week from Provo where he spent a week visiting with his children, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Larsen Lar-sen and family. Mrs. Dorwal Curtis received word last week from her son. Harley Bradley, who is in Italy, that he has recovered from his wounds and is back in active duty again. He was in the hospital hos-pital for several months, because of frozen feet and head wounds, received during the past winter. His many relatives and friends are happy to learn of his improvement im-provement in health. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Olsen and family of Logan, Utah visited last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Blackham and family at Monori. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Anderson ieceived word Tuesday of a very serious accident, in which their son-in-law, Donald Carter of Mt. j Pleasant was reported badly 1 crushed about the legs while at work in a mine near Dragerton, ! Utah. Later reports come advis-: advis-: ing that one of his legs was : broken between the knee and ! foot. Medical attention was im- mediately given. Mrs. Margaret Waldemar of Salt Lake City is spending a few days visiting with her sister, Mrs. Ernest Blackham and family at Moroni. The Artopic club members were entertained last Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Esther Tid-well Tid-well where they enjoyed playing "Rook," after which a delicious hot luncheon was served. There were 10 members present. Special Spe-cial guests were Mrs. Celesta Tid-well Tid-well of Elv, Nevada and Marie Amoldy of" Missoula, Montana. The building of the new Moroni Mo-roni Cannery is progressing nicely. nice-ly. It will be completed in time for the canning of peas this coming com-ing season. An invitation is extended to every member of the Moroni stake to be in attendance at the radio playlet, "The Poor Wayfaring Way-faring Man of Grief," which will be presented on Sunday, June 2o at 11:30 a. m. in the Moroni West ward chapel. There will be 22 people on the program which includes in-cludes those participating m musical mu-sical numbers as well as players. Don't miss this unusually splendid splen-did program. Mr and Mrs. Reese Bradley visited vis-ited last Sunday with their children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Theron Mad-sen Mad-sen and family of Spring City. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Monsen received word this week that their son, Lynn has been promoted pro-moted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ser-geant. He is stationed somewhere some-where in the Mediterranean area of operations. Mrs. Marius Sorenson, Mrs. Julia Ju-lia Sorenson, Mrs. Thelma Bell and Mrs. Art Home visited, last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. uien Rasmussen in Nephi. Mrs. Mable Shaw with her daughter, Ramona of Malta, Ida-no Ida-no are spending their summer vacation with Mr. and Mrs Alfred Al-fred Bell and Mr. and Mrs. Marius Mar-ius Sorenson and family at Mo- rMr and Mrs. Rex Dye of Wales, Utah are rejoicing over the arrival ar-rival of a baby boy born on June 3rd at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shirlev Brotherson at Moroni. The mother was formerly Miss Lucy Johnson of Fountain Green Edgel Bailey, son of Mr. and Mrs Earl Bailey of Salt Lake City is spending a few days with relatives at Moroni. . Mrs Annie Nielson received a telephone call last week from Spring City informing her that her 12-year old grandson, Billy Olson, had been badly injured when he fell off a horse, and she rushed to his aid and remained at Spring City for two days. She reports that the boy is improving nicely at this time. |
