Show Two Fairview Women Are Receiving Basic Training In Women's Army Corps Two Fairiew women, both of whose husbands are overseas, are now receiving their basic training train-ing in the Women's Army Corps at Fort Des Moines prior to their assignments as Wacs to the Army Medical Department. They are Mrs. Sunbeam Mower and Mrs. Clara Denton, who arrived ar-rived recently with a large contingent con-tingent of newly-enlisted Wacs from the Utah Recruiting District. Dis-trict. Mrs. Mower is the wife of Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Lyle Mower cf Fairview, recently listed as a prisoner of the Germans. A pilot on a B-17 Flying Fortress, Lt. Mower was shot down over Germany in April. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thornton of American Falls, Mrs. Mower has had considerable con-siderable experience and training train-ing as a nurse. Mrs. Mower, now' private Mower, Mow-er, will be assigned to the Medical Medi-cal Department as a laboratory technician following her basic training. . Mrs. Denton is the wife of Bruce B. Denton, now stationed overseas. over-seas. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Vance, Fair-view, Fair-view, and previously attended North Sanpete high school. She also-has had nursing experience ex-perience and will be assigned to the Medical Department as hos-! hos-! pital technician following basic training. Both women have requested overseas assignment in the WAC. The Medical Technician program pro-gram under which hey enlisted needs 50,000 more women in the near future to fill vital non-combatant jobs at Army hospitals. Women who are qualified will be assigned directly to the job for which they are trained. Those with no previous experience will be given thorough training at the Army specialist school.
