Show Plans Are Given For Pioneer Day, Mar. 4 The morning, afternoon and evening of Saturday, March 4, j will be full of entertainmen j and reminicence for the nun- dreds of residents and out-of-towners who are expected tc ; gather at Mt. Pleasant to observe Pioneer Day. Lead-off event of the day wili be a morning serenade of the town by the famed Hamiltoi school band under the direction of Principal Morsden Allred. Prior to the afternoon prograr at the South ward, and whik guests are gathering there, old time music will be furnished by a trio composed of Warren, Newel New-el and Leland Shepherd. Serving as a reception com mittee at the church will be members of the Acme Literary club with Mrs. Mina Bjelke chairman, and Mrs. Bertie Eat inger, greeting the guests am' seeing that appropriate badge and ribbons are given out and that the oldest man and womar in attendance are presented with flowers. All out-of-town guests will b registered under the direction o' Mrs. Tina Nelson, Mrs. Sybi Hansen and Mrs. Helen W. Rev nolds. Mrs. Ella Candland wii supervise sales of the bo' "Mt. Pleasant," compiled by thr late Hilda M. Londgsdorf. With Pioneer association pre; dent, James Monsen, presiding the official program will beg; at 2 p.m. , O. M. Aldrich, vice president, will conduct th. meeting. W. C. Olsen will gi the invocation; Arthur O. Neil son, the benediction. Featured speaker at the afternoon after-noon session will be Gerak Ericksen, a former resident ol Mt. Pleasant, and a son of th late Erick and Anna Ericksen. Mr. Ericksen was an army chaplain chap-lain in World War II. Othe numbers on the program will include in-clude the speech of welcome b. James Monsen, a reading of the minutes of past session, and a vocal number, "Memories" b Rosemary Cloward, Bonnie Frandsen, Mary Larsen, Roselir. Carlston, Mary Ann Pritchett and Marilyn Bagnall. Following Mr. Ericksen's ad dress a concert will be furnished by the North Sanpete high school chorus under the direction direc-tion of Ernest Terry. The pro gram follows: "The Spirit of Music" and "Kashmire Song", mixed chorus; Jorgensen; double mixed quar-vocal quar-vocal solo, "Mandalay", Keith tet, "Rose Marie", Wallace Allred, Ferrel McKinney, Donald, Berry-man, Berry-man, Albert Peterson, Erma Squire, Patsy Jones; reading Jesse Burnside; selection ma'.e I chorus. "Cool Water"; vocal solo, "Love Is Where You Find It" Shana Hafen; ladies trio, "Blue Moon", Jean Winterbottom Myrna Peterson, Janice Young reading, Sheril Mower; ladies chorus, "Winds of the South"; male chorus, "Dry Bones"; mixed chorus, "Victor Herberts Favorites"; Favor-ites"; mixed chorus, "The- Lord Is My Light." The program is under the direction di-rection of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Winkelman and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Staker. A visiting time will be held after the program and refreshments refresh-ments will be supervised b; Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hafen, Mr. and Mrs. Hersnel Jensen, Mr. am Mrs. John Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hafen and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Peterson. Climax event of the day wil" be the Pioneer Ball at the Queen City, beginning at 9:15 m. with a floor show featurir dancers from Spring City. Head ing the dance committee arc Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Pritchett. The first couple arriving a the dance after 9 p. m. in Pioneer Pio-neer costume will be admitto free it was announced. The next eight couples arriving be fore 9:30 p. m. in Pioneer costumes cos-tumes will be admitted half i price. |
